I have 15 years of experience of delivering cognitive behavioral services and never have I experience such an unprofessional place. My first session there was someone walking in the background of my session. The next two session my therapist seem uninterested with me stretching and yawning, having a difficulty remembering our last session despite the fact they were writing notes during the sessio and never developed a care plan. In addition they charged me without consent. This is not the ideal place for therapy.

I was a patient at Greenpoint Psychotherapy for nearly two years. I have two perspectives on GP - one being that my therapist, Hannah Propp was an intelligent, empathetic, and overall good therapist. On the other hand, Augusta Gorden (whom I believe is the owner of GP) is unprofessional, unorganized, and unfamiliar with how to run a business. I know insurance can be tricky and an overall pain, but when you're running a business it's imperative that you don't just charge clients upwards of $300 without notice and context. This happened to me twice at GP. The second time which occurred mid December, I told Augusta that I would prefer to stop my sessions until she was able to figure out why I was being charged (I thought this was pretty reasonable considering if I continued, I might just rack up more charges). That email was met with a very curt and callous dismissal from GP. This reaction was the opposite of empathetic and frankly, made me question my own client/therapist relationship with Hannah. I had spent the past handful of months sharing vulnerable aspects of my life only to be dismissed in such a short and uncaring manner. Please note: I've never had a therapy session with Augusta, but based on how she handles other therapist's clients, I wouldn't consider her a safe place to lean during times of hardship. Additionally, I've had no formal follow-up about the charges I continue to incur from GP. I was initially told I had no co-pay, but apparently I had a $10 copay (which is fine) that I'm still randomly being charged for on any given day. I don't mind paying for services, but GP needs to familiarize themselves with better, more accurate business practices.

I saw Marjorie for several months both in person (pre-Covid) and virtually and I highly recommend both Marjorie and this practice. The practice is professional, responsive and clear about their policies. Marjorie is a well-informed therapist who is very supportive and encouraging but would also push me to do the necessary work when I needed to. She provided me with a lot of helpful resources and also paused to get my feedback frequently.

Greenpoint Psychotherapy provides a beautiful and welcoming space for therapy appointments. I have worked with Augusta for over a year, and have found her to be very helpful and easy to work with. She takes time to listen and get to know her clients, and provides feedback in an authentic, engaged manner. My initial complimentary consultation was easy to schedule, and helped me to get an idea of if Augusta was the right fit for me.
