What an eye sore when you're out in the bay surrounded by all the beauty of the tributaries emptying into the gulf. We live in North Florida and came to this area for the weekend to paddle and explore. As a Florida springs water advocate, already knew about the plant ,but had no idea how big it was until it was a constant reminder everytime I looked around me at the bay. The Floridan Aquifer isn't forever, it has a limit. These springs cannot be restored like the water management districts say...they can only be preserved in their current state. This plant along with big agriculture over pumping the aquifer and then releasing all that nitrate is killing the beauty of Florida water. Over abundance of filamentous algae is choking out the native underwater vegetation.

Been in the area, and also seen it from afar. Most people dont seem to know why they switched from clean nuclear to dirty coal plant was beacause of an accident when replacing a component, and the plant was no longer able to use nuclear power.

the plant is not open to public, so you cannot get to the seashore from land
The nuclear plant has been shut down for some time, so no.
Yes, crystal river
Checkout Hunter Springs Park or the King's Bay Drive Bridge for the best opportunity to observe manatees.
I am a security supervisor at the plant, no connection to the operation at all, other than that.
It is a secure site, i recommend you go through the website. www.duke-energy.com/our company/careers
The Crystal River plant no longer produces nuclear energy. In 2013 the decision was made to decommission the nuclear portion of the plant. It reached it's SAFSTOR condition in July 2015. The energy plant still produces coal energy. It is also home to a Mariculture Center.
Not sure maybe Google it
