Wow. I literally just called about 1-bed/bath availability and the person Erica who answered the phone was extremely rude and dismissive. If I was an inquiring mind, I can only imagine how they treat the actual tenants.

Yes, it's great living in one of the apartments in the historic buildings but be sure to ask the leasing agent about parking near the unit you are considering renting. Resident parking has dwindled since I moved here in 2017. While apartment residents originally had access to parking on Reformatory Way, that is no longer the case. Residents are not issued parking passes or reserved spaces so it is a first come, first serve basis and you never know where on the campus you will be able to find a space. Guests will have to park far away from your unit if you are on Reformatory Way. I recommend investing in a folding wagon you can tuck in your car so that you can haul groceries, plants, etc in one trip as you traverse the property. The management company does not regularly have a company or staff to spread ice melt or plow parking lots so be prepared for treacherous walks to your vehicle. When I first moved in there was a security patrol at night but they have done away with that. Sadly, some of the vacant buildings and dark spaces make for ideal hangouts for vandals. They mostly destroy the property and not vehicles, but it would be nice to know there was a patrol as you walk the campus at night getting to your apartment. Marijuana and cigarette smoking abounds despite the signs posted to the contrary. And residents - both owners and renters in the community - don't pick up after their dogs, despite pet waste stations located throughout the community. There are no onsite grounds folks so it just gets left to lay around. Management office staff does not return calls or emails and has horrible communication skills, but not too problematic if you want zero to no interaction with them. Maintenance staff is responsive and friendly - perhaps the best ambassadors for The Alexander Company. I'm looking forward to the retail spaces finally getting tenants and some small bit of convenience in this otherwise underdeveloped corner of the county. Be sure to enjoy the Cross County Connector Trail, proximity to the Workhouse Arts Center, Occoquan Regional Park. Mason Neck Park and Gunston Hall are nearby. A short drive to the town of Occoquan and some great shops. Convenient to I95.

If i could give this property zero stars I would! My husband and I went by this property on six (6) different occasions, and was unable to speak with anyone in the office because they are NEVER THERE DURING OFFICE HOURS! On the seventh attempt (we were curious to see the apartments) a young woman rudely greeted us, but when we asked to see the apartments, she said "I dont have any to show, but I have units available, I just dont feel like showing them. People have applied and I will get around to running them someone in the next few weeks". I asked her to repeat herself, thinking, clearly, my ears arent working. Nope. She repeated "I do not have any to show, but HAVE units available, I just don't feel like showing them". I have never seen anything like it! So you just have applicants waiting around for an answer for weeks at a time? Honestly based on my experience, I feel like my husband and I dodged a huge bullet. If i were you, I would look some where else! Check out the other reviews. Many have had the same experience, and the management company isnt doing anything about it! RUN!

I've emailed and called asking to be put on a waitlist several times. The person that answers the info emails has no idea how to put anyone on a waitlist. I've been on the waitlist before and I called them and disussed. All i get is one sentence answers, "Did you look online?" and thats it. She tells me I need to apply online but there is no availability to apply online.

Great response, Dereck. Zachary - the lack of shared walls, large windows, and high ceilings make for heating and cooling costs that may exceed expectations in comparison to your standard, basic builder, new construction apartments. It’s important to keep this in mind when considering a unique, historic apartment.
No I live there. Nothing is haunted.
Yes, we do accept dogs.
Hi! Sorry for the delay. While the apartments are for rent only, there are single family homes and townhomes for sale from Van Metre Homes. Thank you!
