Very disappointed. Walked half a mile yesterday (Tuesday) in Maryland heat and humidity with two young grandchildren, only to find at 3:00 pm that it was arbitrarily closed. Call before going.

There is a Board who makes those decisions and interviews. As far as i can tell there are benefits to knowing someone... Try calling the main number to get a contact name for your friend to submit her info. There must be financially limited circumstances.

Is admission to the house free? If not, how much does admission cost?

There had been a small donation of $7 or so.. And certain times to go through with a docent. Beautiful building, love the gardens!
