We are fortunate to be building a home in this fantastic community. After searching many states for an agrihood we decided on Olivette. The appeal of the Organic farm, geothermal heating and cooling (so you can actually hear and enjoy the sounds of nature), the miles of hiking trail, the gorgeous Mountain Views and the French Broad river made Olivette the perfect choice. The developers really care about establishing a sense of community within Olivette. The thoughtful layout of community areas is amazing and missing in many in other neighborhoods. There are many neighborhood and community sponsored events that make this place special. For example Yappy Hour, so neighbors with dogs can meet up to play, Farm to table Dinners held in the Pavilion along the River with the vegetables sourced entirely from our amazing farmer Joe at Olivette farm, a book club, neighborhood volunteer organizations, community gardens, and the list goes on and on. At Olivette there are so many opportunities to get to know your neighbors even before moving you feel a REAL sense of community. Let’s face it, there are many beautiful neighborhoods in the greater Asheville area, yet many lack a soul. In Olivette, the people are the Soul of the community. We cannot wait to be a part of it!

Been going here ever since it was bankrupt and enjoying the scenery, now that it’s being developed the riverside and all trails have been restricted to homeowners and “invited guests”. I was told by a homeowner or at least someone that had claimed to be a resident that we was free to go still and we had their permission. While walking around the riverside park I was approached and asked if I owned a house, after replying no I was asked to leave (lady was polite). I was then asked a second time when I just wanted to walk to the other end and get a picture...not necessarily the lady’s fault but it’s sad to see this place turn into a privatized park and a sour retirement community for the rich.

Breathtakingly beautiful, truly inspiring.. The Olivette team is very gracious and helpful. Big focus on intimate, meaningful relationships with community and nature. The pictures and online profiles don't do a justice.. do yourself a favor and check out this magical agrihood community

Attended a wedding ceremony and reception here. While definitely a bit of a challenge to get to, it's an absolutely amazing setting literally feet from the river. You are completely in nature here. The sound of the river flowing by just adds to the incredible experience.

Questions & Answers

Are the Olivetti Farm developers trying to block this public park off from the public? If so how did the county commissioners allow this without public debate?

I don't know first hand, but a guy I met there, who lives nearby. Was telling me it was private now, that he walks his dog there, but only because nobody is around to say otherwise yet. They've been keeping it up in ways which obviously show it's been privitized. There is cut firewood in the pit, and there are bicycles there, lined up to ride. It's a wonderful peaceful park, very beautiful, zero garbage. I snuck two nights there boondocking in my small motorhome while working a temp job in Woodfin. Let my dog run, and rode around on one of bicycles with her running. Man it was sweet! If you look at the maps in the public parks of the French Broad Corridor, they have a legend symbol for free camping, yet there are none on it anywhere. Anyway, I loved Olivette, peaceful nights to sleep between jobs, and it's a very dark sky for the area, so the planets and stars were nice.
