This is my third time here and I'm yet to be impressed with anything in particular. My lunch consisted of boxed mashed potato mix, canned green beans and room temperature fried catfish with a cinnamon dish that resembled yams. The fish was seasoned well and the service was nice enough. The air conditioning was comfortable. The line moved very slow as they took care not to over serve each helping. It also seemed that every patron getting served had special requests or specific instructions.

The food is good but it can be pretty difficult at times to place your order to the staff due to the volume they had they music in the restaurant playing and it didn't help that the staff taking orders and serving make ABSOLUTELY NO effort to speak up when they clearly see you can't hear what they are asking. So as long as you are tall enough to just lean over the top of the double plastic wall barrier they have between you and them and speak to them face to face you should be able to place your order with no issue, the miscommunication caused me to be charged for three deserts I did not ask for.

This meal was a waste of calories and money. The cabbage and green beans were over cooked. The cabbage had no flavor and it was so over cooked I could not eat them. I had the smothered chicken dinner. Save your money and try another restaurant.

This place here has that Real Soul Food. The service is Top Notch. I wore my Bears jersey and the owner had me laughing The Bears beat The Texans 20-23 everyone that came in was like no she didn't wear that Bears jersey 🤣🤣😂🤣

The rice is hard and the gravy is water with no flavor. The yams taste old and the price of the food is not worth paying for. Mikki' is better
The food was a lot better when it was in 4th ward!

I'm sorry, but that was my first time there, so I don't have anything to compare it to. I wanted to patronize a Black Owned restaurant that week. However, I did read reviews that the portions were small for the price, but I thought that it was a good price for what I received. I'm a big eater, and I still had a little for later. It may also depend on who is filling your order, but the portions should always be consistent. Whenever I'm at ANY restaurant and I don't feel like I'm getting what I'm paying for, I ALWAYS ask for a little more and I get it.😊
This is a historic restaurant, it was featured in the movie Jason's lyric. Gray soul food.
