Kishwaukee Gorge North Forest Preserve

The gorge has always been a favorite of mine. I've been hiking these trails for over 20 years and have become very familiar with this forest. There have been some changes throughout this time but the worst is the traffic noise. It is so close to the interstate that there are few spots in this forest that you can't hear the cars rushing by. I can see the effects it has on the animals too, you just don't see as many traces or hear as many birds as in other preserves in our area. It's a shame because I used to find so much peace here.

A beautiful trail for the adventurer. I have active boys and they loved it. Not the most toddler friendly, so I just wore the little guy on me. We'd all love to come back.

Sitting on the rocky beach by the river is one of my favorite spots. This is a beautiful location and I strongly recommend it.

Such a awesome spot to go for a nice walk . There are many stairs to get to the gorge and they are steep , probably not recommended if you have walking issues
