At first glance, Mexico Restaurant looks familiar and predictable. The menu doesn't have anything you wouldn't expect at your usual semi-Americanized Mexican restaurant. Even the name is painfully to the point. I anticipated something typical. In every way, however, I was happily surprised. Nothing blew me away, exactly, but absolutely everything was just a little better than I expected. Salsa was just a hint hotter than most table salsa. Margaritas just a little stronger (and great). Even the basic taco was generously filled. I asked the waitress, who was charming, to get me whatever she would get. She decided on the fajita burrito, which was overwhelmingly large and comparably satisfying. Richmond has a recent trend of "high-end" Mexican, and while this falls more in the family-style camp, it was an undeniably fulfilling and impressive. Also they were great with our three-year-old, who devoured a kids quesadilla and about fifty tortilla chips. Five stars for consistently exceeding expectations.

Standard Mexican fare. Not enough meat filling in the tacos and enchiladas. Too much rice and it was dry and bland. The salsa and chips are average. The wait staff is attentive and friendly but at an average of $15 per person + drink, you can go to Taco Bell and get food that is just as good for less.

Everything was delicious and fresh, good size portions except the salad. You get more salad at Wendy’s. Soup is super delicious the chicken one. Bowls are great with the melted cheese. I recommend as the place is clean, organized, staff is friendly and food delicious for the price!

Good staple in the Richmond area. This is a pretty large location with lots of seating inside and a patio outside with a cute little waterfall. Food is pretty fast and overall pretty tasty. Nothing to special about their menu, normal Mexican fare. Everything I've ever had here has been seasoned and cooked very well. Good hard working staff and always seem pretty polite. If you are looking a good quick meal or need a place to host a large party, this is a good choice.
