Car registration was $110.92 already super high compared to other states with better roads but because it was late its $100 late fee so double. $210 for 6 months of registration! Larimer County Clerk amd Recorder Angela Myers is as high as the altitude in Colorado. Its also all by appointment only with short staffing and no availability while still using Covid as the excuse.

It's Autumn 2020, Covid is in full effect. For the first time in my life I find myself being laid off due to the pandemic and national travel being ground to a near halt. Having worked since I was 16, this was an uncomfortable position for me to be in. I needed a job. I have experience in civil service and decided to apply for a short-term temporary position with Larimer County Clerk & Recorder. Roughly a month later I get called in for an interview. I dressed casual professional (suit with no tie) and prepared for the interview as if it were a seat on the board. About an hour into the interview, Angela Myers herself walked into the room where I was already answering extensive, but professionally polite questions from a 3 person panel. She sits down across from me and immediately starts firing questions that are not only intrusive, but quite disrespectful in approach. Her tone was cold and cruel, and yet I could read the satisfaction on her face while my nerves rattled. I walked out of the interview humiliated with the feeling I can only relate to being in a car accident. A week or two later I received a call that the position will not be filled at all and was 'thanked' for my time. Since then, I have found employment else where and I am grateful for whatever led them to their decision. However, I will never forget the experience. So thank you Angela Myers and please contact me if you care to discuss further.

Made an online appointment to get our marriage license, and was in and out in 15 minutes. Went back to record the marriage certificate and get certified copies a few days later and the process was equally painless. Friendly and efficient counter staff.

Justin O | Oct 5, 2018
Larimer County Clerk & Recorder | Oct 5, 2019

Some people do record powers of attorney in the public record and they are indexed as "power of attorney" (POA). Any document can be recorded in the public record; however, take care to note that it then becomes PUBLIC for all to see for all time.

Secure and Verifiable Identification (typically a Driver's License or Passport) is required for all transactions. This identification must be provided by the owner of record (vehicle owner). If the person of record cannot be present, he/she can designate Power of Attorney (POA) specifically for this purpose (Form DR 2175). In such case, the POA must provide their Secure and Verifiable Identification to complete the transaction.

I didn't get my renewals for my vehicles that expire in February2019. Do I still have to pay the late fees? I never realized this until today. Time slips by too fast.

David Bacon | Oct 5, 2019
Larimer County Clerk & Recorder | Oct 5, 2019

Vehicle registration late fees are imposed when payment for renewing your vehicle is not received by the end of the month following. Then, the $25-per-month late fee applies to any portion of the subsequent months for up to four months. The total amount assessed will not exceed the $100 late fee limit. For example, a renewal expiring February can be paid as late as the end of March without a late fee; after that, $25 is assessed if payment is received in the month of April, and another $25 is assessed if payment is received in the month of May, etc. - until the $100 maximum late fee is reached.
