Since covid has happened many things have changed, including temperatures authorized to ship animals(to now 80 degrees maximum) and the people who now run the SLC Delta Cargo area. My family and I just went through a Military move to Hawaii through the SLC Delta Cargo and I can not thank Thomas and all of the other employees who spent almost a half a day and well past closing one night as well as a whole other afternoon to ensure our pooch was taken care of and was able to join us as quickly and safely as possible. Before any of this transpired and knowing we would be flying out of the SLC area we made sure to do our homework, take care of all required paperwork from the Department of agriculture, FAVN testing which took over two months to get back from the University of Kansas, veterinary documents, a health certificate 10 days before flight, the appropriate kennel size for our animal, the works. When we were within our five day window from departure we called the Delta Cargo Call Center(seperate from the SLC Delta Cargo) and scheduled the flights for us to travel. We would be leaving late at night so our pooch would depart and arrive while the temperature was under 80 degrees at our departing and arriving location(they have to verify this on the weather.gov website within the five days before you can be booked). SLC has had a heatwave as of late and so on the day we were set to depart we were informed our flight would be a No-Go as it was now over 80 degrees. Thomas and Crew immediately went to work trying to find alternate flights/routes, they tried swapping our kennel for one of their own to try and get our dog on a flight that could accommodate a smaller kennel size. Sadly my dog was too big to be cleared for the smaller kennel and our dog would not be cleared that day to fly so they contacted Marisa from Dogs all Day(5 stars for them also!) Boarding. Marisa came after hours to the Cargo yard to pick up and watch our pooch overnight while Thomas and I worked after hours to contact the call center supervisors seperate from the SLC Cargo yard to get our pooch cleared. This was obviously not ideal for us as my Family and I had to depart that night towards our next assignment while leaving our dog behind, but it was the route that had to be taken. That wasn't fun explaining to the wife/kids either. Our fur baby was cleared to travel the next day though and Thomas kept communications with me personally to inform me that our pooch made it back to them at the yard safely the next day, that he was looked after while in their care prior to departure, that he had flown out on time to it's next destination and was looked after there and was waiting to hear back from us for when he arrived local in Hawaii. Thankfully, he made it in safe the next evening with no issues and our whole family has Thomas and the SLC Delta Cargo Crew plus Marisa and Team, the kenneling service, the flightline maintenance workers and aircrew inbetween each flight to thank for ensuring the safety of our precious cargo. Thank you so much SLC Delta Cargo. We are forever grateful. - Wrigley, Robert and Family.

Angie and her crew in the Salt Lake air cargo are DA BOMB!! Great customer service, even when they are swamped. Super responsive to customer needs. Can't say enough about the quality service they provide!!

I think the animal has to be booked at least 2 hours before the flight. Don't expect short lines or prompt service.
I go to the airport quite often to drop off medical supplies. A lot of the time I see animals being shipped out. Most the time I see them with a bowl of Frozen water and they usually have a bag of food them. I have seen employees walk the dogs before or after their flights. I hope this helps
