It took over an hour to get my Real. iD License. They have limited number of employees that can process real id applications. The one had to cover the front desk and I think the other was on break. I will say that the people I did interact with were very pleasant.

Phone lines won't send me to a real person no matter when I call. An automated system doesn't answer my question and when I ask for a person it says they are busy and hangs up on me no matter what time or day I call, ive called over 20 times now.. Now I have to come in person.. This is rediculus. Pick up your phone!

No appointment. They move fast despite the long lines. Still... Getting there early (before they open) helps a lot.

You can if you have the registration proving it's from your car. Or you can mail it back to Penndot or go to an auto tag business.
No. You have to go to the DMV in person to do that.
Once you are there, you will be issued a number in line. It took us 6 minutes to take a picture and renew.
No you can keep your old license plates. You do not need to give them back to anyone.
