It seems like a nice location to camp with either groups or family. The sites are not very private and you can see straight through to your neighbors sites. It was just my boyfriend and I over the 4th of July weekend. The campers were respectful of noise and no fireworks, and there were a lot of families enjoying themselves. State park staff was seen throughout the weekend keeping an eye on things. The hiking options were nice and maintained. The facilities were as expected for a busy holiday weekend. I would not camp there again just because I like the sites to be a bit more wooded/private. But I would go back to the area to hike around some more.

Very enjoyable hike. The observation tower was steep in some places and I would highly recommend walking sticks. Gorgeous rock formations, amazing views (bring binoculars). The look out only holds a few people and has an alternating steep ladder (go down backwards). The nature trail had some interesting plaques and information, there were minimal hills on the nature trail.

Really enjoyed our stop here at Castle Mound. You have to go in through the campground but day passes are available, or you can use your state park sticker. There are some cool rock formations that are fun to hike and climb, including the overlook at the peak. Some of the side trails are worth doing also, so be sure to take your time.

Great hiking location! There is the easier "Nature Trail" and there is the more difficult "Observation Trail". Both are fun and fully of beauty. Would recommend for a good hike

Yes, there is a bike trail that starts next to the playground, as well as a nature/hiking trail.
