Rude over the phone! Awful first impression of the company

I took my vintage Christian Dior bag here for a minor repair and it was a disaster. The velcro securing strip had come unstuck from the leather. Instead of gluing it back on, the shop put in new rows of stitches through the leather, which showed on the outside of the bag. There had never been stitches there before and the leatherwork was ruined. A professional leather restorer since has confirmed that the sewn leather cannot be repaired or replaced, and that this damage is permanent. I noted in previous reviews that other high value bags (LV, Gucci) had been treated well at the store. I find it really hard to believe that a professional leatherworker who had dealt with these kinds of bags before looked at a gluey velcro strip and decided to put 40 new (and uneven) stitches into the previously unstitched leather of a Christian Dior bag. I was present at the front of the shop while the work was done and could have answered any questions if they had any concerns or queries about it. If I had been asked if I wanted my bag stitched, I would have said no. The representatives in the shop were not helpful and became very aggressive when I explained the damage they had done. They made conflicting claims: the shop assistant said that if we had asked for it to be glued, they would have glued it (we did ask) but then the owner said that they do not glue leather. So why didn't they tell me that before they ruined the bag? They didn't apologize, filmed me as I spoke to the shop owner and did not offer a refund. We had to go back into the shop a third time to ask for our money back. They refused to pay for the handbag restoration. This is a really special bag that took years of searching to find, was shipped from Europe and expensive. I am very, very disappointed and upset. My advice is to not take to this shop any item of value for repair. They are not the experts they claim to be.

I brought a backpack with broken zipper and torn internal netting to be “fixed” a little more than a month ago. I thought $80 was a bit steep, but nevertheless acceptable. Fast forward to today, and I notice said zipper is coming loose at a corner. When approached, Expert, rather than trying to satisfy a customer, spent their time arguing that it was a new repair incidence since he shored up the opposite corner. My question is, why wouldn’t a true craftsman have shored up both corners. His solution was to charge me half to reinforce the opposite side where the zipper is plainly coming apart. Whatever happened to pride in workmanship? Needless to say, I will never again patronize Expert. So, $80 down the drain. Expert? Not so much! UPDATE: Expert reached out to me regarding the problems I had with my backpack. Admittedly, I was stressed and in no mood to talk on my last visit. Suffice to say, they worked with me to come up with a solution to my satisfaction. I especially appreciate that they were concerned enough to work out a compromise. It is rare these days to find merchants willing to go the distance and engage with their customers. Kudos to Expert. And thanks for not giving up. I wanted to submit a new review, but I wasn’t allowed to. So, this update will have to suffice, along with a change in the star rating. Thanks again for their patience and customer service. And many thanks to their front-facing customer representative, Tina T! I will definitely return for my next luggage or shoe repair needs.
