Hiring Carolina was the best decision we made when planning our wedding. Her wedding package comes with a "connection session" which we upgraded to an engagement shoot in our home. Carolina immediately made us feel comfortable and we got some incredible shots of us in our home that we will cherish forever. Before we even got back our engagement pictures we decided to hire her to shoot our rehearsal dinner the night before as well the wedding. When Carolina arrived it was like we were being greeted by a friend. She was so warm, professional, and friendly with us and our friends and family. On our wedding day, I felt great knowing that she was in control of making sure we got all of the shots we wanted while also not taking up too much time taking portraits. She delivered the photos to us sooner than we expected and revealed the gallery over video chat which was so fun. She even put together a slideshow of pictures that made us feel like we were reliving the day. We were completely blown away by the pictures. They are the perfect mix of candids, editorial, and classic wedding pictures. My husband and I feel like she captured our day in the absolute perfect way. Our pictures are romantic, warm, artistic, and unique. We already know we will hire Carolina in the future to capture other life events. If you are looking for an amazing photographer that will give you gorgeous pictures that stand out from everyone else's, look no further!

Stop your search for a photographer and go with Carolina now! Carolina is a highly sought after photographer and for good reason. She has a unique style about her that allowed us to be ourselves and natural in front of the camera. We went with Carolina for our Engagement & Wedding photography and couldn't be happier. Carolina walked us through her style and asked about our expectations of her during our initial video consultation. She guided us through each step of the planning process and provided a questionnaire which helped us organize the timeline for our Wedding Day. We began Wedding planning during COVID. Carolina was accommodating and respectful of our comfort levels and risk. Carolina is one of the recommended photographers of the James Ward Mansion. Additionally, Carolina introduced us to our hair & makeup artists as well as florist and we are thrilled with how everything turned out. Thanks for being there for us on our special day Carolina!

Carolina shot our wedding 5+ years ago and did the most incredible job. Her photos are stunning and you barely even know she is there. She makes you feel so comfortable and really captures the best and most candid moments. Since then, she has some to our tiny NYC apartment to document "a-day-in-the-life" when we had our first daughter and our new home we just bought in NJ to photograph our now, new family of 4. She really works to understand what is important to you, what you're looking for in your images and again, makes you feel so at ease. She also has so much patience and was willing to hang around a few mins after our time was up to let our 3.5 y/o change into her princess gown, wig and plastic heels and get her "much needed" solo photoshoot. I very rarely leave reviews of any sort but if you have any need for a photographer...book Carolina. She is the best!!!!

We were able to book Carolina as a photographer for our last minute elopement, as we postponed our ceremony due to the pandemic. We initially weren't sure that we wanted to document it, as it was just my partner and myself, but we are so glad that my MIL insisted. She found Carolina, as she lived close to the venue, and we could not have asked for a better experience. Carolina showed up early, was able to serve as our witness, and made the practical experience of getting married seem somewhat magical. It was fun to walk around the venue and take pictures, and Carolina has a great eye for beauty, even if you may not see her vision in the moment. The turnaround on the final pictures was quick, and we could not be more pleased with how she was able to document an important moment in our lives. 10 / 10, would recommend to any couple looking for a friendly, creative wedding photographer!!

Questions & Answers

We are getting married out of the country, and would love to take a photographer who we trust with us, and also have an engagement session here so that we can get to know each other first. Do you offer destination wedding photography?

Yes, absolutely, traveling is one of my favorite things to do! And it creatively inspires me to travel to brand new wedding locations also, so your photos will be even that much more phenomenal. I recently photographed an American wedding in Paris in the winter and it was a wonderful experience for us all. I am happy to talk about options and custom quote your destination wedding to any part of the world.

Do you charge travel fees for weddings outside of your area of New Jersey?

Generally I include travel as part of my wedding photography packages within an hour and a half travel distance from Califon, NJ. I love to travel for weddings as well, and am happy to custom quote travel to any other part of the country. Generally weddings within driving distance from Califon, NJ, require a 1-2 night hotel stay.

What is documentary wedding photography?

The documentary wedding photography approach takes all aspects of the day and captures them in an authentic, unobtrusive way. There are many styles even within the documentary photography approach, some more straight forward, while others approach a more artistic style. The one thing that all documentary wedding photographers have in common is their approach to moments. Moments are not posed or asked to be repeated, and the day is left to play out as it was meant to, so that you can look back on your unique wedding day just as it was, and relive the memories again.

What is the average cost of your wedding photography packages?

Weddings are not a one-size-fits all event, so there is really a bit of customization that I like to do with each of my couples to ensure you are getting the right wedding photography coverage for your size, style and goals for your wedding. I start off with a base package and from there we can build to your liking. Smaller, more intimate wedding packages can begin at $2900, while larger wedding packages may range up to $5000. When comparing wedding photography prices and the cost of a wedding photographer, there really is no standard. Everyone runs their business differently so you will likely find photographers in all price ranges. What's most important is that you are happy and comfortable with the style and the person that will be capturing your day. Good luck!

We are already married, but are looking for a newborn photoshoot package. Do you also photograph families, and maternity photo sessions?

Carolina Rivera Photography | Oct 3, 2020
Carolina Rivera Photography | Oct 3, 2020

Yes, absolutely! One of my favorite parts of being a wedding photographer is that it's just the beginning of a beautiful story and relationship with my clients. At the heart of it, I am a documentary photographer, which means that I love to document and capture all aspects of life and events. Therefore, yes I offer maternity photography, newborn photography and family photography as well, and I also offer combination newborn photography packages for those looking to capture more than just one event in their lives, and would like to make sure all the memories throughout their first year with a new baby are captured.

What sort of wedding photographer questions should we be asking?

Carolina Rivera Photography | Oct 3, 2020

Finding a wedding photographer can be overwhelming if you are not sure where to look or how to begin your search. Once you have narrowed down the style of photography that you enjoy and can envision your own wedding photos in, make sure to speak directly to the photographer or the company and make sure that you vibe well with their personalities - since after all, they will be capturing some of your more intimate wedding memories. Some basic photographer questions you'll want to have covered are: does the photographer have liability insurance? has the photographer photographed at your venue? (this may or may not always matter to you). What photography equipment does the photographer use, and does the photographer have back up equipment? There are many more important questions that you'll want to make sure to ask, but make sure you are dealing with a professional wedding photographer and not just a friend with a camera.
