(Updating this as of Jan 2022. A family member called about bringing in a stray cat they caught, in hopes it could find a home. Animal control told him to shoot the cat in the cage and throw it out somewhere because they didnt want it. Theres some absolutely VILE people who work there. Im disgusted! Rescue as many animals from them as you can!) I can't speak for all the employees but I called about a cat recently and I was told they had a specific cat so I called back a few hours later to ask about it again and someone else answered and sassed me about how they hadnt had any cats for days and proceeded to question if I even knew that I was calling animal control. Of course I knew who I was calling why would you think someone calling animal control about a cat would be a wrong number. It was very nerve wracking as someone distraught about a lost cat. Extremely rude. That being said please still save the animals there if you can, they deserve to be saved from the pound.

APS does sometime have to euthanize animals in the shelter due to health reasons. However if you're asking about euthanizing a pet, that is a service a local veterinarian would need to do.
Dont trust them ,once the dog is signed over to them and the dog growls they put them down fast. Remember the dog doesn't know them an it's like a stranger coming in your house, the dog will growl or bark, but as soon as they see that they call that a agression an stick the needle in them fast. I know cause they did that to a friend's dog.
We currently do not have any job openings at the shelter, however, keep checking on the county website, stanlycountync.gov
