On a suggestion from a friend who lives in Georgia, we made the 40 minute trip to Old McDonald's Fish Camp to see what the hype was about. We got there right at 4 when they open and there were already people on the wait list. Though it was raining, the charm of this place was not lost. They have a huge pond and a smaller duck pond with peacocks even a little bridge you cross to get into the restaurant. After being seated, we learned that a bowl of buttered grits and a basket of fresh hushpuppies was free to every table. Having heard this was our first time there, our waitress walked us through the menu and gave us time to consider our options. We settled on the Fish Camp platter as it has a variety of everything. Oh my goodness ! When that platter came out, you'd have thought we were feeding an army! The portions were huge and enough for 2 days worth of meals. The fish was fresh and delicious, the gator tail was as good as somewhere in Florida and the scallops...well... I'm still thinking of those and how soon I can get back to have them again. This unpretentious, nostalgic, dining hall was an absolute joy to experience and we will be back. Next time we bring friends! If you live in SC or any border town in Georgia, you've got to check this spot out, you're gonna love it!

A CSRA institution! Check to make sure open, only Thursday through Sunday typically. Be ready for a wait. There are farm animals to feed so bring quarters for the food machines. But some of the best fish and seafood you have ever had.

Yes they serve crab legs, at least on Thursdays. It may be one of those....when they are out then no more. Thurs. Fri. Sat.is the days they're open.

Fish, shrimp, oysters, grits, chicken, burgers, FF, Bake potatoes, corn, slaw, a gumbo type thing. That's all I know..and it come out hot..
