DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel St. Louis - Westport

First (and the worst), the website claims that the hotel’s free shuttle covers St. Louis Lambert International Airport. Technically it does, but it’s not their shuttle (runs between multiple hotels) and only comes by at certain times. The first pickup is at 7am, which would’ve been great to know ahead of time as our flight was very early. I even called ahead to confirm that they had the shuttle service, and was assured that we could take it. We ended up having to pay $55 for an Uber. Second, the room was just in rough shape. There were shoes under one of the beds, the tv (which is extremely old and outdated) was unplugged, the sink stopper was missing and there was a toothpaste cap down the drain, the bathroom mirror was falling apart, no bathroom fan, no microwave, stains on the carpet, the baseboards were falling off the wall, and the safe was locked (they called maintenance to come up and tell us that there was nothing they could do, so we had to leave our valuables with the front desk when we went downtown). The bathroom ceiling was paneled, which I found very strange and off-putting. Third, we were right by the ice machine and vending machine, one of which was making an awful, monstrous dripping noise all night. The staff was very helpful and did well with what they were given, and the room did it’s job, but I definitely wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it. Didn’t request a new room because we were just staying one night. Would’ve much rather stayed closer to the airport if we knew about the shuttle situation.

The staff was great. The hotel itself needs some work. The mattresses were old and lumpy. The TV in the room did not work (I did not request it to be fixed so I cannot comment on how it would have been addressed. The breakfast offering was terrible. A breakfast sandwich and some apples. The room just needs to be updated. It was very clean. The rate was fine.

The hotel in general, as you can see from the outside, is outdated. Our room is very small. They’ve attempted to update rooms with new furniture. But it doesn’t take change the fact that the carpet is stained and gross. We have a smoke detector that looks like it’s from the 80s hanging on the wall by wires. The tub drains so slow, by the time I was done with a shower I could have sat down to take a bath. They say there is a spa but nowhere in the room with the pool did we see any spa/hot tub. (We only saw the buttons for it- maybe they filled it in? Idk or hidden in another room?) The pool was gross. Stuff floating in it. Super cloudy. Couldn’t even smell any chlorine. Now I will say I’ve not had any problems with the front desk and the bar seems nice. However I wouldn’t pay to stay here again. This is the poorest quality Hilton hotel I’ve ever been to. It’s maybe a days inn quality at best.

From booking to check out, it was and amazing experience. Service and staff,go above and beyond. Staci, at the front desk went above and beyond. Bar staff were awesome. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this location. It was easily accessible to many attractions. I will be back.
