We ordered two small "white" pizzas (this past Saturday around noon), one from the menu (Brooklyn) and one custom topping pizza. The Brooklyn was scare on toppings and sub-par for a NY style pizza. The flavor was good for what was there, but the wait was 40 minutes for the second pizza, which was actually pretty good, according to my friend. The first pizza sat in a warming oven for nearly 15 minutes before the second was delivered. Prices were high ($48 for two 12" pizzas, with tip) staffing was weak, even for Dallas.

I used to go to the original Grimaldi’s in Brooklyn for years. I knew the quality wouldn’t be as good since they sold out and became a chain. Still decided to go on my birthday before the Mavs game with an open mind. Pizza came out cold. It was a wednesday night and not busy at all. I let them know right away and they gave me some coupon for next time that I left at the table since I wasn’t coming back. The pizza lacked flavor and seemed bland. Crust was way too oily and dense. Very dissapointing and extremely overrated. Trust me this is NOT anything close to what NY brick oven pizza should be.

We had a gift card for this place and decided to try it for lunch. They were a bit short staffed but we were there before the lunch rush and got us a table right away. The waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. The wine suggestion was a good one. The pizza was good but the toppings were sparce. Overall the menu is pretty much straightforward with pizza and salad.

Unfortunately I just had my 2nd terrible customer service experience in 3 months with this location. This is just about the 2nd. Today after placing a to-go order around 4:30pm, when the restaurant "only had two tables" (according to Jimmy), I was made to stand at the bar for 3 minutes to be greeted by someone who was on break, eating, instead of the bartender himself, who could not be stopped from wiping the bar down to assist me. After getting home, come to see that my Prosciutto Arugula pizza did not have any Arugula. Called the store to let them know, only to talk to Jimmy, who offered I drive back to the store and have it put on top of my pizza. Asked "is there an option where I don't drive all the back in rush hour traffic?" his answer was "how about a credit for Arugula?" Told him that was disappointing to be offered a credit for ONE topping that is IN THE NAME of the pizza. I did not get a response after that because he flat out hung up on me. I have had run-ins where toppings were forgotten or the order time was much longer than quoted, and have always been met with a manager offering me credit for a pizza upon my next visit or taking something off of my order to offset the mistakes. Today it was "how about a credit on Arugula?" and then being hung up on. Love the food and don't mind paying a premium for correct orders a couple times a month, but unfortunately I will just drive the extra 10 minutes to the other Dallas location to avoid the negativity and repeated mistakes of this store.

Questions & Answers

Do they not have an answering machine? I've called twice, but the phone just rings for several minutes with no answer (whether real person or recorded).

Baking our pizza and calzones in our signature coal-burning oven offers a unique flavor and a crisp crust that is simply not possible from gas, convection, or wood-burning ovens. Our fresh ingredients, hand-sliced mozzarella, and San Marzano tomato pizza sauce make us the most award-winning pizzeria in the U.S. Our ‘secret recipe’ dough is hand-tossed and made in house daily!
