Nurse Jackie and staff were great, just not enough staff to maintain what they promised to do. The Garland facility has a lot of building maintenance issues, We requested 7 times for the refrigerator to be fixed or replaced it was knocking and very loud I sent videos but they never fixed it. Calls to Serna and Angel would not return calls on any issues. Took them 2 weeks to get TV cable installed. Promised to put someone with my mother to help her get to activities that never happened. It took them two weeks before we could move in even though we had paid. Evening dining room crew were very rude and told me that my mother had already ate when she did not they refused to wait on her that day.

My mother pays an exorbitant amount of money for rent each month that is supposed to cover cleaning and meals. Brookdale lies to cleaning staff insisting their pay will increase after starting but Brookdale never delivers. As a result, they can only keep cleaning staff for about a week before they quit. Cleaning only happens 2 times a month, which is fine if the rent was reduced but of course it’s not. As for the meals. They are not nutritious nor appetizing. Residence are served food they are not even willing to eat because it is so poorly made. They are not serve nutritional vegetables at all, and residents are told that they do not have the budget to purchase healthier foods. My mom was recently diagnosed with malnutrition because she’s not getting enough vitamins and minerals in her diet. As a result she’s having to online grocery shop and cook meals in her apartment or order food delivery as she cannot drive. She is not being reimbursed for this expense. Brookdale is a very cheap corporation that only cares about its bottom line and not its residents. My mom informs me that she and other residents complain about food and cleaning but they are constantly told there’s just no money. Then what are we paying for?

If I could give this facility (Brookdale Willowbrookplace) a zero I would...DO NOT PUT YOUR LOVED ONE IN THIS FACILITY!!!!! My mother had personal items stolen from her...and on the day we moved out another family was moving too due to theft as well. There idea of restaurant dining is disgusting no menus are posted...here are a few examples of their idea of "restaurant dining" Dinner: Liver and Rice or Tomato Soup and a cold sandwich Dinner: Egg Salad Sandwich or noodles and Ragu tomato sauce. or on one evening my mother had yummy hamburger helper 2 days in a row...so leftovers. Great restaurant dining...NOT! The activities are long hours of word searches and reading on your own or my personal favorite flex time. One afternoon one of the "caring" staff also ordered me to leave my mothers room...unbelievable! My mother was at this facility all of 2 weeks before the theft...on the day they decided to clean after 7 days of not picking up trash. I was asked not to call the police to file a report so they could "investigate" after not hearing from them regarding their investigation police were called a report filed... The response from upper management has been lack luster to nothing.

My sister died at a Brookdale facility in California after 46 days of being neglected, mistreated, and abused. Their CEO Lucinda Baier could not have cared less about my sister and the abuse that she was suffering. She is a greedy uncaring unfeeling non-human! Do not let anybody that you love and care about live in any of the 675 Brookdale Senior living facilities in the 41 states. Brookdale Senior living a very bad organization!!
