Needed information from the building department, Charlene answered the phone and was very helpful in directing me to the right place. Victoria Walker responded to my email very quickly, within minutes. I called her with additional questions and she was very supportive in assisting me on my computer to find the documents needed.

If you don't want to get your permit applications looked at or reviewed within 6 months, Town of Hempstead Building Department will be your paradise. Between the classism all inspectors/plan examiners live by, to the rude telephone operators, to the useless online system for permits - this place haunts me in my dreams. Just know, if you plan on doing something very minimal to your home - expect to wait 150x longer than every other state in the country. If this place doesn't get overhauled soon, I expect many residents will be moving ASAP.

I would like to compliment one of your employees, Charlie for his assistance in helping me obtain a certificate of completion on an extension that was added to my house 20 years ago. His efforts enabled me to be able to close on the sale of my house on time. He was knowledgeable and professional and a credit to your department.

Yes...Of course it does...
You need to go into the Town Of Hempstead Building Department and request a search. If nothing comes back from doing a basic search then you will need to pay for a full search - cost is $25. This is performed at the certificates desk....
Nassau County Department of Assessment, Old County Road Mineola...request a Certified Copy of your Deed....go on-line first to verify office hours. Bring a mask.
If its your home come into 1 Washington street 2nd fl. speak to code enforcement. Worst case scenario you'll have to file a foil request. I would also recommend doing a property search, $25 fee cash or check, to see all the permits ever filed on your property
Nope
Horrible

Good Afternoon, you can go on the Town of Hempstead website, go to Building section, and download applications form, complete and send it in, OR call them directly and make an appointment, where the forms can be completed outside, and then dropped off. Best wishes to you, Stay safe
No, contact Meadowbrook Pointe directly to find out rental process. Permits may be needed for renovation or upgrade work though. Best Wishes to you Sir
You should contact the Town Of Hempstead Helpline by email or phone. This is a Highway Dept, Sidewalk Division, and/or Bldg Dept issue. If you live in an incorporated Village, then you should call them as they would have jurisdiction. Give your name and address, and they can help you.

So I work in the building dept, you dont need a permit for flooring but you do for the sheetrock, or if you're replacing cabinets and counter tops. If you're replacing faucets or appliances you may need a plumbing and/or gas permit. Come in to the office we'll give you the paperwork
You need to file for a permit in the Town Engineering Department to obtain a permit for a driveway curb cut.
