Having dealt with this national chain in the past I have always found them to be fair, upfront and honest. Today, all of my great memories of Pep Boys have been crushed and if I could give them less than 1 star I truly would. Please read on and allow me to explain. Having discovered that sister needed front struts and shocks on her vehicle while in for a tire service at another locally operated national chain (FS), I immediately headed over to the nearest Pep Boys. I was greeted by a gentleman named Paul and explained what the vehicle needed and clearly told him that I was concerned with the other shop's quote and that I have had nothing but rave reviews for Pep Boy's in the past. While I fully understand and appreciate that these folks need to operate their businesses and they will mark-up parts as a cost of conducting said business I was appalled to discover the actual mark-ups that this locally operated Pep Boy's is charging hard-working folks in these tough economic times. Taking the estimate home and using GOOGLE, I put in the exact part numbers that I was provided and almost fell over. I was able to find a pair of the exact front struts for $143,99. This is far less than the $417.99 each that I was quoted. $691.99 mark-up is just for the two (2) struts and doesn't include an additional forty-five (45%) percent mark-up om the rear shocks. Buyers BEWARE when dealing with locally operated national chains. Just to be curious I reached out to another local Pep Boy's that I have frequented in the past further north of Tampa and asked what the struts would cost and received a verbal quote with the same part number and description of around $400.00 for the pair. Still a big mark-up but nothing compared to the local Citrus Park location. Again, while I understand there is a cost in doing business, I am totally horrified by the absolute highway robbery that some of these locations are charging. Please do your homework and don't just look at the first few reviews of any business. Take the time to read beyond the raving reviews.

I was running late for work and saw my tire light pop on. The gas station pump was busy. I look over and see Pep Boys. I knew they were busy as all the lifts had cars on them. I rushed in and explained my situation. They could get me in but it was a 40 min wait. I asked for a quick plug and they said they don't do plugs there. (my first sign they were a good tire place) I said I didn't have time to do it then, and to have a nice day. He could have just let me leave. He said I needed to at least fill up the tire to be safe. Asked me to pull up and he would personally fill it up. Not only did he check the nail for leaks...He topped off all my other tires. Come to find out it was just a short screw and there was no leak. Just needed a little air. The kindness I was shown was A+. Highly recommend this location. I believe the man helping me was Alphonso? (SP) Thank you so much for keeping me safe over making money.

Highly recommended, staff it’s very helpful and well friendly. Waiting time it’s well done. Mechanic are streaming professional, he was aware to complete his job.
