It definitely is my home away from home! I’ve been coming here for years. My wife and I just absolutely love the area. And the camp store is very well stocked also!!

First camping trip in my pop up trailer was last week at Wilderness Lake Campground. When we checked in the owner had no record of my deposit/VENMO payment and asked for all 3 nights in payment. When I mentioned I paid the deposit via VENMO he said "I guess I'll have to take your word for it." As we were checking in we purchased 3 bundles of firewood, one for each night. We received no firewood. When I asked for my money back on day 3 he readily handed me a $20 and later that day someone brought wood to our site. Rain storm to follow. Speaking of sites.....when we arrived we were shown to the most unlikely site for a pop up (reserved 2 months ago) which was slanted and ridiculous to back down into (in between two pine trees next to the lake drop off and a stone wall on the other side) He couldn't really help us and kept insisting we face the other way and keep our SUV connected the entire time. This would not have allowed us to leave the campground for 4 days and also face a stone wall/directly into the neighbors screenhouse. We sent him on his way and had to work it out ourselves, backing in and out and up and down for about 30 minutes until we got a little slanted spot to face the LAKE. When he returned later he asked "How did you get in there????" The lake is small but nice, there are some free kayaks and canoes and there are three showers and bathrooms in the Ladies Room. The sites in general seem to cater to just big RVs parked there forever. Nothing seems to be marked except SITE 16 which is where he crammed us. We met some nice neighbors and the latest gal pulling in was also hassled about where her spot was and where she should be set up. Something that could be solved with a SHARPIE. We couldn't get any ice because the camp store was closed most days. People trying to check in or pay for wood, etc. were SOL most of the time we were there. We had fun on our own but will not be returning and just for the record I am not normally a complainer or a wimpy camper. :)
