I went to the queens village branch on 7/14/22 at around 2:30pm to get a physical library card and check out some books. The woman working at the front desk was rude, inattentive, and a bit racist. I stood in front of her for 5 minutes waiting for her to be done on her phone so she could get me started on my library card process and when she finally started helping me she was very short and seemed annoyed to be there. I asked her if she could help me find the book titled “The Push” by Ashley Audrain (a white Canadian author) and she immediately told me (a black woman) to go look in the black experience section. I was confused because the book has nothing to do with the “black experience” and felt she just wanted to dismiss me. I went back to her and asked her to look it up because I don’t know why it would be in that section, and she didn’t even remember the title I asked for, meaning she wasn’t really listening in the first place. She finally looked it up and told me they didn’t have the book. If I hadn’t asked she would be perfectly fine wasting my time. I will never come back to this library, the service was truly awful.

So happy that this branch finally recently reopened. A great spot for my daughters. Helpful staff. Family friendly.

No this library does not have a quiet room or a separate space for teens. These 4 libraries have a quiet room - Central Library, Flushing, Forest Hills, and Lefrak. Flushing, Central and Cambria Heights have separate Teen rooms/areas.
