If I’m spending money, 5 star service. Red carpet. If I’m there to return items, I might as well be their worst enemy because the guy at the counter will not let me forget for a second that he hates every second of the process. If you are a franchise owner and your franchise offers service you hate doing, don’t get mad and make it MY problem. Treating customers poorly because you don’t like doing something (processing returns) guarantees that they will never return to actually spend. (the review trends on google are pretty damning. nearly every five star is delivered by a mailbox owner, while every 1 star refers to some kind of return experience) Also charging a dollar for taping boxes (edit: was. apparently now it is up to franchise owners) against ups store code policy. It’s also a short-sighted, unnecessarily unpleasant practice that does nothing for anybody (the opportunities you'll lose are probably much worse for your business than the impact on your bottom line). I love having a UPS store nearby, and I want this one to be great. To the owner, I hope you can respect all your customers equally. Even an Amazon return is incremental dollars to you, though not anywhere close to a shipment purchased through you.
