Administrative Operations in this office needs work. My PCP has been Dr. Perkins for a few years and she is amazing! Very thorough, honest, helpful and engaging. Totally love Dr. Perkins!!! Where things fall apart is the ancillary staff - which are all mostly terrible, unhelpful, full of "tude and rude. My biggest gripe presently is that even though they are open to 5pm on most days, they start routing all phone calls to their answering service at 4pm, leaving your needs until the next business day - if that. I've had their lazy, incompetent front desk staff tell me I did not have active insurance when I did. I actually had to get on the phone with them and the insurance provider to clear it up. Want to know what happened the next time I called within the same month? I was told I do not have active coverage once again and to call my provider. They are so lazy and do not want to do any work. They keep switching systems and this last time they switched systems - they spelled my name wrong, so when I called they could not locate my account - even though I have been going to this location for years. Sunrise is a hot mess behind the scenes and they need a seasoned professional to get in there and tighten things up. Also can confirm their billing is a mess and suspicious.

I would give this office a 5 star review for past experiences with the front desk and I like my Doctor but the communication and follow through of the office is terrible. I would be happy to discuss it with someone if anyone cares.

Dr Katsman is great, Dr Plawes who is no longer present, was amazing. This is a great local place to get medical care from doctors with great bed side manner, patience and kindness. But they have a major problem — BILLING. It seems to me that they have transitioned their billing department to some sort of auto bill program. Several problems with that … 1. Any bill you receive from Maimonides does not explain the charges. It literally stamps the date of visit and whatever they say the cost is. The most unclear bill you will ever receive. I’m pretty sure this is not legal. You are supposed to outline the charges so patients can appropriately agree or disagree with each bill. 2. It is possible to receive bills for canceled appointments. Their auto bill system is not always lined up with booking system. I received a $ 20 bill from Maimonides for an office date for a date of service when I didn’t see a doctor. I have verified I didn’t see the doctor because … I was no where in the vicinity on that date. Also, they didn’t actually submit a claim to my insurance. Yet and still, they’ve billed me… I refuse to pay… it’s difficult to dispute the charge since the billing department as you should be able to tell by now… is in shambles… and they’ve forwarded it to collections. So at this point, both Maimonides and the collections agency are mailing me almost weekly now for this $20 I do not owe them. Separately, it is pretty sad what has slowly become of this place over the last few years because of poor management. Maimonides as a hospital is falling apart (check the news to see hospital administrators stuffing their pockets and letting everything else go to hell including the doctors and the patients). Hopefully NYU or some other entity can buy this place and save it. It would be a tragedy if this community lost this place.

Sunrise does take this plan, however if your insurance requires you to select PCP you must do so before your appointment. Hope this is helpful!

Yes, absolutely. You would need to schedule an appointment, though.
Just call the office
Parking is horrible, it can take about an hour at times to find one, better off taking the train.
You would have to see a generalist first, then get referred, unless you're going in for a specific reason, in which case your question is incomplete. Dr. Lapin is a great generalist there.
