Questions & Answers

Do you have a FOOD PANTRY? What are your Office Hours - I can test the always open statement on your home page - I am doubtful? What hours are the Food Pantry accessible? If you DO NOT have a Food Pantry - WHY NOT.

Hi- you’re right, the building is not always open but God is! :) I understand that’s misleading and will change it. New Light is a small congregation now and so instead of trying to operate our own food pantry, we partner with the food pantry at Dundalk Middle School and collect to help keep it running and we provide food for families identified to us by school social workers. We also work with Streets of Hope Homeless Shelter. I’m sorry we don’t have a food pantry in house- try the community assistance network for a food pantry that has been helping for a long time and should be able to support you. All the best to you uncle Dave! Many blessings!

Why do you have Women Pastors, when the Bible clearly states that it should be a man? It is in 1 Tim chapter 3 and Titus chapter 3

Hi John- thanks for reaching out. We could have a much longer conversation about the letters of Paul in the New Testament and women's role in the early church that we can see throughout the ministry of Jesus, the book of Acts, and the rest of the New Testament. But a good first answer is that the purpose of a Christian Church and the call of a pastor is to proclaim the good news of Jesus - crucified and risen. Since the first people to proclaim that amazing good news that is the reason we gather- the Easter good news that Christ is Risen- the first to share that gospel were women, many churches including this one have recognized that God is still choosing, calling, and sending women to proclaim that good news. Please feel free to email or call anytime if you would like to have a longer conversation about women in scripture.
