Very nice exhibits. Especially enjoyed seeing old printing press in action. Staff and volunteers were wonderfully helpful.

This is an AWESOME place to visit! I really enjoy coming here, because it is fairly inexpensive but it has so much history that is just fascinating to look at. There are plentiful things on each floor, and you can spend quite a bit of time there just looking around. The only problem that I have is that there are not enough places to sit, and as I am older and disabled, it makes it difficult for me to go and see everything. If you have any spare time, you really need to come and see this place!

All your hometown history! Hands on exhibits, military history, hometown & women's history, flood exhibit, native american history all for free. Cute gift shop. I had the privilege of meeting the gentleman who made the wooden figurines throughout the museum as he was carving more, simply delightful. These folks take pride in their history and displays.

Geary County Historical Society is housed in the former Junction City High School, built in 1903 by the Ziegler & Dalton contracting firm. It was designed by Topeka architects J.C. Holland and Frank Squires in the Richardsonian Romanesque style, which was popular in the late 19th century and commonly featured asymmetrical building facades. Holland also designed several area courthouses. More information about Holland and his other designs is available here: https://www.kshs.org/kansapedia/james-c-holland/16802. Hope this helps!
