Worst fish sandwich, was not worth $12. Fish was more like a fish stick. There was more bread than fish. I like many of their wines and the staff is always pleasant.

My mother-in law got us the nicest room at deer creek winery for a night. The room was clean, beautiful, amazing tub, great decorations, comfortable bed. The food was bland, tasted frozen and overpriced for the quality. The wine was way too sweet, even the driest one was like sweet juice. The only guests were myself and my husband, my twin brother and sister-in-law and two of our friends who were considering using deer creek at their wedding venue. The only other people in the dining room were the owners, two of their friends and the live performer. At 8:55 a server came and told us that if you weren't an over night guest you had to leave. We still had wine and we hadn't seen each other in a year so we took our friends to our room to hang out for a little longer and drink our wine. My friends wanted to check out the room because of their interest in using DC as a wedding venue. After this experience she refused to even entertain the idea. At 9 a staff came and knocked on our door and said that everyone who wasn't staying had to leave immediately. Her reasoning was because the owner's friends were staying in the room below us and our guests needed to leave. To be honest the staff seemed stressed out because the owners have such a bad reputation for mistreating and having an abusive nature with their staff. Our friends left and we were really disappointed. We were not being loud whatsoever, it was 9 PM and we all wanted to hang out for a little longer. The next day the staff were waiting in the hallway, stating at us while we were getting our stuff out of our room 15 minutes before checkout time. When we told my mother in law about our experience she was upset that she spent her money supporting a local business who had nothing to offer to make up for the bad service. The owner was not apologetic and all he talked about was "how it should have been" after reading more reviews and hearing about how terrible the owners treat their employees, I can see why that server was so concerned about kicking our friends out. I would not recommend staying here unless you want to eat frozen/canned dinner, drink unbearably sweet wine, and deal with horrible customer service and pretentious owners.
