Just awful. Public servants that don’t serve the public. You can’t interface with a person without an appointment. You can’t get an appointment “if you are able to submit plans online.”’ Online system is clunky and confusing like any government site. Then the files have to be labeled and named alphanumeric per their standards (written somewhere, apparently). Every other business has opened and is dealing with the public. But somehow the government gets special privileges and can bury the public in red tape? Where’s the accountability?

I'll just say that I have more than a little inside track. Corruption is alive and well in this department. Well known families, and those with money absolutely get preferential preferential treatment. Insane fees. 0 accountability.

Worst department to deal with. I submitted an application in June 2020 and have been calling and emailing this department and nothing. Not a single response. Left messages on there main line, filled in the online contact form and not a peep. Not even a return email or call.

I believe all the requirements are available through the planning building website. You can talk to a planner before noon every Friday without an appointment if you need clarification on what's in the building code. They do answer some things via email as well.
Try to get the information from the seller first. If no help then try County's PermitView website as a starting point.
There are several criteria that can affect housing livestock and the possibility of running a business on county property. Please give our staff a call before 3:00 PM on weekdays (805) 781-5600.
Honestly just call county about this. I wouldn't put much weight on anybody speaking about this here unless they actually work for county or know the regs really well but you don't really know if they do.
There are several ways our staff can look up the necessary information and get an inspection scheduled for you. Please call our main line (805) 781-5600 .
Yep! Not over the phone though.
Garbage is South County Sanitary; sewer will probably be either Nipomo Community Services District - or - County Service District 1 depending on the location of your property.
