When we decided to expand our family, we reached out to Lana Tauben who helped us find Julie Thomas, Windancer Newfoundland’s. Lana spoke very highly of Julie and her knowledge and passion for the breed. GOOD Newfoundland breeders are very difficult to find. Upon my first conversation with Julie, I knew she was compassionate and truly cared about each and every one of her furry kids. She patiently answered each question about the puppy we were looking at. While we have 4 Newfies we wanted to make sure that our new baby # 5 would be a good mix for our family, but more importantly so did Julie. In each conversation Julie would say, “I want you to be happy and know the puppy is just the one for you.” Julie carefully vetted us as potential parents, and I must say she is very cautious as to who receives one of her precious puppies. We met all of her males and females and all were ever so sweet. Julie’s home for her Newfies was spacious and immaculate environment for the furry kids. After many conversations with Julie, we chose Rigel born on 4/1/22. In case you don’t know Rigel is known as the Hero of the Titanic. A French newspaper days after the Titanic sinking posted a story about Rigel, a Newfoundland who belonged to Officer Murdock. When the Titanic went down Rigel was in the water. In the dark of night as the Carpathia approached it did not see the lifeboat. Rigel swam over barking, pulled the lifeboat to the Carpathia saving all in the lifeboat. Working with Windancer Newfoundland’s to get our little boy was such a joy. Newfoundland parents and owners are typically very protective of this very special breed of Dogs. Windancer puppies are raised from birth in a loving and socialized environment. We are the proud parents of 5 Newfies and our “kids” are a part of the Canine Classmates Literacy Intervention Program in Texas. Our Newfies must be very special to work with young children. We went to get Rigel on June 4th. He has been a joy to our family since that day. He is very intelligent, he watches his Newfie brothers and mimics them. He has been in puppy training and individual classes since he arrived in Texas. Of course, he is the smartest kid in class. Rigel is a typical Newfie loves everyone and loves the WATER. Before anyone says, it is tooooo hot for a Newfie in Texas, let me say our kids are never outside without us. They live in a/c all the time in a big den and bedroom area, and oh yes, they allow us to live with them. They go to elementary school every day in a/c so I doubt they even know Texas is hot. The “kids” work in elementary schools working with at-risk students giving them the gift of literacy. Through our dogs the students are giving the building blocks to read. I want to say that Julie and all at Windancer Newfoundland’s are the nicest and most caring individuals that I have known. It was and is such a pleasure working with them. Julie responds immediately when I reach out to her. I would highly recommend that if you are looking for a Newfie to be a part of your family you reach out to Julie. But please know that if you have never had a Newfie and you get one, you will be the parent of a very special kid that will love you all their life. Thank you Julie and Windancer Newfoundland’s for all you do to raise such special Newfoundland’s that bring a blessing to us each and every day they are in our lives.

Working with Julie was easy - she was responsive and available throughout the entire process, it's clear she's been doing this for a long time. Our puppy had to fly across country - Julie assured us everything would be fine and it was. When …Irene, thank you so much for the 5 stars and review. We are so happy you had a good experience with us. It was truly our pleasure to work with you and we are delighted to have our little girl living with you. It sounds like you two are perfect for each other. Please keep sending pictures so we can watch her develop as she grows. Thanks for loving her.

I first met Julia almost 20 years ago when I became interested in Newfoundlands. I found her to be well-informed and very knowledgeable about this wonderful breed of dog! I have bought both of my two Newfoundlands (Carley and Matilda) from her and will continue to in the future! Windancer Newfoundlands has wonderful dogs! Julia is a sweetheart!

Questions & Answers

My husband and I have had 2 Newfs in the past and just lost our last one in Aug. He was 10 years old. We live on the SC coast and he loved the ocean. Can you fly a puppy to us? We could not drive that far. And what would your cost be? Thank you
