Great experience with the team at Logan for a total heating and cooling system replacement. From our initial meeting with Travis who talked us through the estimate and got us all squared away on payment (He even came back in the same day when we needed time to talk about it after the initial estimate was provided.) to working on install today with Clay, Griffin, and Paul everything was great. Installation was scheduled next day, the team arrived on time, and were clean with their workspaces throughout the day. We work from home and had no interruptions to our day while the work was completed. On install they took extra steps to ensure the system would perform well in our smaller space, accommodated our needy dog, and were courteous the whole time they were in our home. And gave a great in-depth overview of the system and changes made from our old system to the new one. Fast and friendly (as their tagline says) was definitely our experience. We had gotten estimates from two other establishments and the service was just not as good as Logan was from the minute we reached out for the estimate.

For both the initial service call and the installation, technicians showed up early, explained everything they were doing and were completely professional. I would not hesitate to recommend Logan to anyone.

Excellent service. Shane and Nathan know what they are doing! My neighbor had Logan install their HVAC system a few months ago and said they were very pleased. I'm so glad they shared that with me.I will definitely recommend Logan AC and Heating Service to friends and neighbors. Very professional and such nice people.

Logan's are great to work with. From the estimate to completion of the installation every one we dealt with was professional and friendly. Our new heat pump system is so quiet and the house is very comfortable. The installers were very knowledgeable and respectful of our home. They removed our old system, installed the new system, then cleaned up completely. Clay explained everything they were going to do before they started work and then made sure we understood how to operate the thermostat and maintain our equipment. We highly recommend Logan's!!

A method of dividing a home into different comfort zones so each zone can be independently controlled depending on use and need; an air conditioning system capable of maintaining varying conditions for various rooms or zones.
This is the heart of an air conditioning or heat pump system. It is part of the outdoor unit and pumps refrigerant from vapor to liquid. In a heat pump system, the coil absorbs heat from the outdoors.
Trane air filtration system that removes 99.98% of airborne allergens down to .1 micron from the filtered air, making it 100 times more effective than a standard 1" filter. Trane CleanEffects also removes over 99% of the influenza virus from your home's filtered air, according to research by the Harvard School of Public Health, in collaboration with scientists at Environmental Health and Engineering Inc. (EH&E).
An air moving and/or mixing unit. Residential air handlers include a blower, a coil, and expansion device, a heater rack and a filter. Heaters for air handlers are sold as accessories. In some models, heaters are factory installed.
In an air conditioner, the coil dissipates heat from the refrigerant, changing the refrigerant from vapor to liquid. In a heat pump system, the coil absorbs heat from the outdoors.
Trane's high efficiency systems carry out the ENERGY STAR label. The result of Trane's partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), ENERGY STAR products are more energy efficient and help reduce our whole earth's pollution problems. Choosing a Trane ENERGY STAR Comfort System assures homeowners of lower energy bills and improved indoor-air quality for their home.
An evaporator coil is part of an indoor air unit, it functions with the air conditioner or heat pump outdoors to cool and condition indoor air that flows over it by drawing out heat and moisture.
A heat pump is a mechanical-compression cycle refrigeration system that can be reversed to either heat or cool the controlled space.
The fan motor inside Trane's variable-speed air handlers is designed to vary its speed based on your home's heating and air conditioning requirements. Working in conjunction with your thermostat, it keeps the appropriate-temperature air (warm air on cold days) circulating throughout your home, reducing temperature variances in your home. It also provides greater air circulation and filtration, better temperature distribution, humidity control, higher efficiency and quiet performance.
Two-stage heating and cooling is considered to be more efficient, because it operates at low speed most of the time. However, on days when more heating or air conditioning is required, it switches to the next stage for maximum comfort.
Assessed by a dealer, the calculation factors in a number of criteria in your home (square footage, number of windows, year-round weather concerns) and determines what size components you should include as part of your total comfort system.
It not only provides the right amount of moisture for total comfort. It can also help to keep irritating airborne particles from circulating as easily. It helps to alleviate dry conditions, reduces static electricity in carpets, helps avoid damage from dry air, reduces shrinkage of wood floors and woodwork, helps cold winter air feel warmer at lower temperature levels, and eliminates the need to portable appliances.
The Logan Services' Perfect Air Plus is a whole-home polarized-media electronic air cleaner. It can be easily installed directly in the 1" filter rack(s) in the existing heating and cooling system. It's electronically enhanced media combines elements of both electronic and media air cleaners. Particles are electrically charged (polarized) and then collected in the high-efficiency media. It removes mold's food source, removes harmful allergens, and traps odors and VOC's.
UV lights have been proven to be effective at helping to clean air ducts. The UV-C energy produced by the bulbs can destroy even the smallest particle of dust or microbial. Research indicated that 99.9% of viruses and bacteria within the air ducts of your home can be destroyed with the use of UV light. By destroying the DNA of these bacteria, an HVAC UV light system can help to reduce bas smells and greatly improve the quality of the air that you breathe within your home. This, in turn, can improve allergies, decrease illness, and provide relief to asthma sufferers.
While the life span of an A/C unit depends on many factors, the general range is 12 to 20 years. Some systems may need to be replaced sooner, such as after 10 years of use, while others can last 20+ years with proper maintenance. All units will do better when they're properly maintained, so if you're trying to extend the service of your A/C, regular checkups are key. Even when your system appears to be working properly, it could be inefficient - and run up higher utility bills - than it would is repaired or replaced. The best way to find out is with regular inspections.
Air conditioners usually have a life span of 10-15 years and there are multiple ways to tell if it's time to upgrade and replace your A/C. Ways to tell it's time: Disappointing output Skyrocketing energy bills Breaking down too often Major repairs needed Equipment is 10+ years old
It's sometimes hard to tell when you need air conditioner repair and there are many signs to be looking for to know when you need air conditioner repair. Signs to look for: Constantly turning on and off Energy use is rising Poor humidity control Loud, acute noises during operation Ineffective cooling Dripping water below evaporator coil A/C will not turn on
While numerous companies offer duct cleaning services, it's important to understand that not all duct cleanings are the same. If you are getting a quote for an HVAC duct cleaning, you'll want to inquire about the thoroughness of the process the company offers as well. As we all know, you often get what you pay for, so you'll want to keep this in mind when choosing a company for your duct cleaning. Our duct cleaning quotes are provided based on the home's size and the number of vents and registers the ductwork holds. Call our team at 800-564-2611, option #2 or submit an online request today to get your duct cleaning quote.
The National Air Ducts Cleaners Association recommends cleaning your air ducts every three to five years. Most often, we will schedule duct cleanings with customers who have moved into a 'new to them' house, as it is a great way to ensure that the home's ductwork has been cleared of the previous owner's dust, pet dander, and other pollutants. Routine duct cleaning appointments are also popular with those who have pets. We also see many homeowners upgrading their HVAC system by booking a duct cleaning service shortly after replacement; this can help the operation of their new heating and cooling equipment.
A duct cleaning will help improve your indoor air quality in many ways. Those who suffer from allergies can expect to alleviate symptoms, as a duct cleaning will remove excess pollutants and dust from the ducts leading to each room. If you have pets in your home, this cleaning service will help remove extra pet dander, fur, and hairballs that can clog and aggravate your system. A duct cleaning can also eliminate foul or musty odors that you might be experiencing due to debris and pollutants collecting within your ductwork.
With everything that can build up in your air ducts, like the dirt, dust, and dander, it could clog up the ducts. A duct cleaning will help to clear the air ducts and allow for proper airflow throughout the system. You will also see a difference in your furnace filter. Keeping up on an HVAC duct cleaning will help your filter from getting clogged as quickly. A clean air duct system and furnace filter will work together to save money by removing the pressure from your HVAC system and potentially lowering your energy usage.
Yes, we believe that, if done correctly, a duct cleaning is a valuable service that can bring significant benefits to your home. Because you spend a majority of your time indoors (especially during the cold weather months), you and your family can benefit from the improved indoor air you are breathing as a result of a duct cleaning. As a bonus, this service can also improve the way your HVAC system works and runs, allowing for better airflow through the ductwork.
Multiple things can cause ice buildup on the outdoor unit. A dirty furnace filter will cause the cooling system to work harder than necessary, and with less airflow, this can cause the HVAC system to freeze up. Low refrigerant can also cause ice buildup along with a blower motor that is not running in the cooling system.
The refrigerant temperature in the outdoor coil is lower than the outdoor temperature, so any moisture in the air touches the coil and starts to freeze. Freezing on the outdoor unit is a normal condition, and that's why there is a defrost cycle to remove the frost.

If you find that your air conditioner breaks down, there are 6 simple maintenance type things you can check to revive your A/C. You can check your furnace filter, rule out a thermostat malfunction, reset your circuit breaker, check your outdoor disconnect box fuses, ensure a properly working condensate pump, or determine if you have a frozen indoor coil. If you type these things and they don't resolve the issue, give Logan Services a call at 937-224-3200.
We serve the Dayton, Columbus and Cincinnati areas. Our Dayton location is at: 9181 N. Dixie Drive Suite A Dayton, Ohio 45414
Washing your air conditioner is an easy process. You will want to turn the power off to the A/C, remove large debris from the unit, find a hose with adjustable pressure & use either low-medium pressure or the shower setting and starting from top to bottom gently rinse the coil, then turn the A/C back on.
You can schedule an estimate with the Logan Services team. Our Comfort Consultants will complete a properly done load calculation and we will determine the right system type and size. More things to consider when determining the correct size of A/C for your home is outdoor climate, how many windows you have, insulation & ductwork, skylights & fireplaces, home layout & ceiling heights, and number of people living in the home.
Scheduling air conditioner maintenance at the beginning of the cooling season (March/April) does more than save you time. If we discover a problem during our inspection, we can walk you through the necessary fixes. Early detection could allow us to solve the problem before it turns into a more expensive repair or replacement.
Annual maintenance checkups can extend the life of the whole system, make your home A/C run more effectively and cut down on your utility bills. This is why we recommend signing up for a maintenance plan.
For an affordable price, the Logan Services team will inspect the condition of main system components, test the cooling system for proper function, make any necessary adjustments to the system for normal settings/standards and will identify ways you can save money on your energy consumption.
A mini-split system is a great solution for a home that has no ductwork, room additions or outbuildings where extending or installing ductwork is not ideal, and spaces that are directly connected to unconditioned spaces where ductwork would be exposed to harsher temperatures. There is an indoor unit that hangs on the wall just under the ceiling and an outdoor unit that works with it.
SEER, or Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio, is the measurement used for both air conditioning and heat pump cooling efficiencies. The higher the SEER rating, the more efficiently a unit operates.
Yes, your HVAC system can assist in the cleanliness of the indoor air; the indoor air quality of you home can depend on the type of filter you have and how often you change it. Changing out your filters on a monthly basis will help with the cleanliness of your air. When you air conditioner is on, the fan is running and it filters the air circulating in the home, making it cleaner and healthier to breathe in.
Ceiling fans don't actually cool a room, but they can help make a room feel cooler by moving and circulating the air. Only an air conditioner can actually provide cool air and remove humidity within your space.
Covering your air conditioner is not recommended. Tarps and covers can trap in moisture and rust out parts, such as your coil. The unit is not able to breathe with a cover on it. He recommended that if you need to cover your air conditioner, to use a board with some bricks on it to keep it from blowing away. This is only to keep debris such as leaves from falling down into the system.
Rain does not cause much of a threat to your outdoor unit. The only thing that may cause a little bit of a problem is if you were to take your electrical panel off and leave it off, allowing a large amount of rain to get into it. The air conditioners have panels on them that cover and protect them, so you should not be concerned about A/C damage when it is raining outside.
