Please do not do what I did and accidently book at this place. Even though I had to pay for the room regardless of how scary the location, smelly the room and poorly maintained my 'renovated' room... my wife and I did not stay and rented an entirely different room so we didn't have to stay here. They tried to get my card before seeing the room; reading other reviews I am glad I didn't.

I booked this room for a fishing tournament we were attending way back in March and I got a very good rate and a confirmation. An hour before we were ready to arrive that reservation was canceled and a new reservation was put in its place for $140 more for the 3 days. I called oleo and they were a little help. They directed me back to the owner of the property. When I told him that I had booked it he said I called and canceled it which was a lie. He knew it too. He told me if I didn't like it I could go find a room somewhere else. If anyone ever books a room here, make sure you have something in writing. Although it did me, no good to make sure that you're charged the correct price. On top of that, the rooms were dirty. The toilets were clogged and the electric for the boat kept kicking out during the night. All in all I would not stay there if it was for free. There's nothing anyone could say to me that would make me feel better about the people, the property or the service. Buyer. Beware XXX! Of that sounds pretty good cover

They cancelled one of my two rooms one hour before I arrived after a four hour drive. They offered me and my husband a repair room for the night. I looked at room and it was in need of repair but for one night it was ok. In the morning I had gotten bitten by bed bugs. The owners rudely would not work with me to reimburse me the cost. She stated that I agreed to the room, which I did, but bed bugs come out overnight. If I had known I would never have stayed there. I did call the health department. I would never stay there again. There is no one else to work with if you have a problem other than the rude owners. I would rate this motel fall less than a one star. Everyone beware!!!!!!

Positive: I needed to make a room change and the staff was very accommodating. Negative: Heater in second room did not work and to complicate the situation, one of the windows at the top of the door was covered with plastic that allowed further cold temperatures in. After already changing rooms (no TV in 1st), I didn't want to change again.

Yes they have smoking rooms. They also have a variety of "well, that don't work eithers". However, the staff there are incredibly friendly and they will do what they can to address a issue and solve it as quickly as possible. On that note. Becareful with the Coke machine outside. I paid for a root beer and got a Dasani water. I hate filtered bottled water and I was craving a root beer. That was all the money I had available to buy that luscious soul soothing root beer and I was left tramatized. The starlite does not own the machine and could not offer a refund. #NotMyCokeMachine Anyway, other than that stuff. It's a pleasant place. I am also very theatrical about life. So take things I say with a grain of salt. :)
