The original tree was struck by lightning and died, but a new tree was put in that was from its seed. The new tree is still fairly small. The farm is now owned by a family that is not related to Disney as far as I know.
They should be. I went last Summer, there weren't any hours posted, but you'd want to go during daylight hours. There is a very small parking area and a short walk to the barn.
