Have never stayed at a Army Corps of Engineers campground before. Was needing a place to spend a couple of nights as wife and started our journey towards my teacher training up north. Recreation.gov is the website you need to make your online reservation. What you need to know; -Many sites in this park are ON THE WATER or very near. -There is NO SEWER hook ups. We went two nights and did just fine. There are two dump sites available at the entrance to the campground. Water and electric were provided. -There are some sites which are pull through. Most are back in, however the Corps has done a very good job at setting it up so you can back in without doing complicated geometric contortions. I nailed it on the first try. Though it seems you are in the middle of nowhere, you really are not. There is a Walmart SuperCenter in Evans about 30 minutes away. Also had the cheapest gasoline for miles when I was there at their Murphy Express. My space, 75, had access to a small beach area which was shared with three or four other spaces. I really did not have any issues while I was there and thoroughly enjoyed it. I did notice boats on the water well after dark. So that might make a difference if you wake up to the slightest sound. Also you know it's nice when wife says she wants to go back. Wife is a beach girl, but really liked the lake. It is definitely on my return to list.

Such a nice Campground directly at the lake. We are on a 6 months road trip right now so had a lot of campgrounds... Unfortunately it was raining and storming like crazy and we booked for 1 week. Had to sleep in the car because of the rain, even some other campsites were flooded.... Campground Attendant was soo nice, she made us Hot Soup and brought as dry firewood after the storm was over. She helped as so much and told as which towns in Georgia are worth a trip too

We stayed a week in site 30 in our fifth wheel. Loved our site…right on the lake! Actually, almost sites are on the lake, but all are not big rig friendly. Make sure to read the site description & understand that most sites come down off the road so that the site is next to the water…Some sites have steep angles into them😬. Water pressure was great & most all sites are well spaced. Restrooms were very clean. We travel full-time & have not yet met a COE campground that we haven’t liked, but this one is now one of our favorites! If looking for an inexpensive, low key BBQ meal, stop at Neil’s in Thomson. Mega portions & nice people.

Site 19. The site itself was gorgeous and huge. Plenty of privacy. But it is not big rig friendly. It does not show the half circle drive you have to navigate. We are not amateurs. We are seasoned full timers. Our toy hauler is 40 foot which was supposed to fit in the site. You can’t tell from the pics how steep the drive is but it’s steep. Pulling in while trying to avoid a tree - our rig went up on the side of the drive and literally almost flipped over. Worst experience ever. Virtually no cell service. Appling and the surrounding area is great. Please do your homework when it comes to these sites. Do not take the websites word that your rig will fit.
