I am so thankful for Korri & the whole Uncommon Closet team for all their hard work and expertise. They took my mother's 30-year-old 80s style wedding dress and completely overhauled and created a beautiful, modern, but sentimental dress for my wedding day. The dress was gorgeous and it was so special to be able to wear my mom’s dress & have my grandma’s heart included in the stitching. The appointments were so easy (for me) & exciting and I’m still blown away by the dress’s transition. I would recommend Uncommon Closet to anyone.

I had a bit of an unusual request with a pretty short timeframe during a busy part of the year. The folx here didn't flinch in their willingness to accommodate me, and were consistently kind and lovely in our interactions. What more can be said?

Korri and their team were SO great to work with. I'd been there before to fix a zipper on my winter coat (for only $10?!) so I knew I wanted to go back when I got my wedding dress. I wanted them to remove the train from my dress since I wanted to wear it all night and be able to dance in it without bustling an already bulky dress. They also shortened the straps on my shoulders and added some cups. The environment is so fun, everyone on the team is so nice and encouraging, you can tell they all enjoy their jobs and each other. I also appreciated how honest and upfront they were about the expected costs for what I was asking for, and it ended up being very affordable! Plus of course I want to support my LGBTQA+ community (shoutout to my aces!) Thanks again, Korri!

So appreciate the work that they do! Korri was gracious to accommodate my changing schedule and the jumpsuit I brought in came back better than I expected. Please support this amazing small business! 💖

Questions & Answers

I have a pair of jeans that need some tailoring, how much would it cost?

daniel Velasco | Oct 1, 2019
Kate Burton | Oct 1, 2019

Plain hems are $15. Original hems are $20. Tapering ranges between $20-50 depending on how much needs to be taken in. Taking in at the waist starts at $45 and goes up based on how much needs to be taken in.

Hi there! Are the quoted tapering and taking in prices up-to-date? Additionally, do you add/replace jacket linings? Thank you!!

As far as I know they do add/replace jacket linings, but you'll need to call/email to get an accurate price for things!

How much for taking in on a dress and length shorting on a dress?

Hi there! I work at Uncommon Closet—Taking in a dress generally ranges from $35-$75 and shortening is usually $45-$120, each depends on how many layers a dress has and any embellishments such as beads or sequins. It could be more for something like a wedding gown depending on the style. Feel free to give us a call if you’d like to set up an appointment for an estimate!

Do you take men's measurement for suits?

Oliver Gonzalez | Sep 30, 2021
Uncommon Closet | Sep 30, 2021

Hello! We can take measurements for any garment! A basic set of measurements is $10 and a full set of measurements is $15. The cost acts as a credit towards alterations on the garment(s) you purchase using the measurements we take. Best! Korri (They/Them)

Typically how much is it to get full body measurements taken?

I have a leather jacket with a separated zipper, can you replace/repair zippers on leather?

Colin O'Keefe | Sep 30, 2021
Uncommon Closet | Sep 30, 2021

Hello! The biggest difficulty with leather repairs (specifically repairing/replacing zippers) is that once a needle goes through the leather, it creates a permanent hole, which can weaken the area. So, yes we can repair/replace a zipper on leather, but we can't guarantee the longevity of the repair. Best! Korri (they/them)
