It is a beautiful pier, typically Californian. Wonderful views from above. And spectacular from below, especially at sunset. This dock is also very long, perfect for taking a walk or sitting down at sunset to read and watch the sunset on one of the benches that are arranged on its sides. Highly recommend your visit or stop to take photos.

Extremely poor parking. It took an hour to get a spot. Much better parking accommodations at the Ventura State Beach. Also, the restrooms were atrocious. Just not clean. I had forgotten why I had stopped going to the Cayucos/Morro Bay/Pismo beaches. If all you are going to do is go to the shops (walk) it is fine. But poor parking and unclean restrooms make this area not fun to visit.

Love the pier and the beach that flanks it on both sides. Fewer tourists than at Pismo and Avila make this the pier/beach of choice for a lot of locals. Nice places to eat and shop within easy walking distance.

It always is and always has been, unless city council changes it. Yes it is public.
I'm not sure but I don't know why you couldn't.
Yes ,only certain pits
There is not.
In the camp areas at Morro Strand there are designated pits. I'm not sure about other locations.
A fishing license isn't required to fish off a public pier, bit there are rules and regulations. If fishing on the shore or a boat you do need a license.
