My husband became very sick overnight while we were camping at Carpinteria State Beach Campground. He got a same day urgent appointment despite being from out of state. Dr Carter did an extensive exam and listened carefully. He told us it could be several things, but that we needed to go to Cottage Hospital Emergency department right away for more diagnostic tests. Did I mention we were camping in an RV and we had ridden our electric bikes over to the clinic? Nurse Lark came in to give my husband a medication and heard us discussing riding our bikes back, then packing up the RV and driving to the Emergency department. She said “here take my car keys and just go now”. We were taken away by her kindness, and off we went. My husband had surgery the next morning. The receptionist and medical assistant were kind and professional. Five stars is not enough.

Samsum Clinic has an "Urgent Care" center that only operates on a same day appointment schedule so each person is seen quickly and has at least 20 minutes with the Dr. 20 minutes doesn't seem like much time, yet, keep in mind this is urgent care, not, ER care. So if you cannot get to your Dr. and have to see one ASAP this is a great option, or have an urgent issue that isn't at the ER level. The office is very clean, the staff is very friendly, and professional. The Dr. is very experienced, and takes the time to listen to your concerns. The office staff goes to great lengths to protect the health of everyone in regards to infectious disease. I had a very short wait time, and their were no people waiting in the wait room because their system is so efficient.

Some of the worst medical service (receptionists, doctors, excluding Dr Victoria and Dr Clark who are awesome!) I have ever experienced. Don’t go here! Sign up for One Medical LA instead, their telemedicine is 10 times better and more reliable, even if you have to take a longer drive. Examples: took 2 months to get physical appointment. On day off, doc decided to cancel. I don’t get it rescheduled. Receptionist didn’t want to give me a reason why. Got charged for a blood test without consulting with me first. When a person I know had Covid, there was zero support, none. Just: get tested, stay home, sit it out. No suggestions on how to decrease viral load, no recommendations for anything. Not even a reach out.
