I’m staying at this location due to a house fire and find it to be a great place for travelers. The staff is very friendly and they work hard to provide a clean and safe facility. The whirlpool is no longer available but a comfortable sitting area complete with a cornhole game is there in its place. There is a covered pavilion complete with gas and charcoal grills free for everyone to enjoy. The indoor pool, 24 hour fitness center, complimentary laundry facilities, available meeting rooms, and lending center are even more reasons to make Candlewood your go to for great accommodations in Cape Girardeau.

Internet speeds are throttled throughout day and had weak signals in our room. There’s also no Jacuzzi. The pool is great and Laundry is free. Fresh towels upon request. The kitchenette in the rooms will have me coming back here.

Just wanted somewhere safe and clean to spend the night. Was pretty expensive for us, like $190 plus $25 for the dog. Checked under our beds and didn't see anything suspicious, so that's a relief. Toilet was very clean. Most things were pretty clean. Floors had that subtle stickiness, cleaned, but not pristine. Good enough, although it better be for that price. No complimentary breakfast I don't think. Things a little beaten up in the room. Kinda surprising at these prices. We had a dog and the room next door had a dog. Somehow didn't have a howling fest so I guess it's pretty soundproofed well. Would I go again? Probably. It's hard to judge cleanliness and safety, and I suppose these prices select for clientele that can pony up that much...

Now, I want to first and foremost thank candlewood for allowing us to check in early. That by itself, deserves a five star. The reason for four has nothing to do with the service/hospitality. But I upgraded for the suite, and it was clean, with plenty towels and popcorn (nice touch) with a great selection on TV stations. The pool area was clean, ample towels and refreshing. But unfortunately I had to pull a star off for other reasons. This hotel needs some renovations, my suite.....outdated (thermostat off because of the heating/cooling unit) paint peeling off the door in the bathroom. Doorbell non-functional. Ice only in your room which takes roughly 2 hours to start making ice. We stayed one night turned on the machine, bought a bag of ice and the next morning there were roughly 25 banana cubes. But if you are grabbing a room right off of the highway, staying for a night or two, and want great hospitality over amenities....this is your place. I will be staying again solely on the staff and how well they take care of the guests. Thank you
