The staff was so kind and helpful. Dr. Mike went above and beyond to make my daughter comfortable for her first eye exam and was extremely thorough. I 100% recommend Eye Expressions and am so grateful to have found them.

Questions & Answers

What are Scleral Lenses?

Evan Engel | Oct 1, 2018
Evan Engel | Oct 1, 2018

Scleral Lenses are specialty contact lenses that have some unique features that make it the ideal contact lens for patients with corneal irregularities such as Keratoconus. The scleral contact is much larger than a traditional contact lens, which means that the contact does not apply pressure on a sensitive cornea, rather putting pressure on the less sensitive Sclera (white part) of the eye. This vaulted design also creates a chamber for extra liquid, which makes Scleral Lenses the top choice for patients with severe dry eyes such as Sjorgens syndrome. Dr. DeCanio has extensive experience helping patients with Keratoconus, severe dry eyes, post-surgery complications, and other specialty contact lens patients.
