I’m not sure about Bruce as of yet. I’ve read many good reviews but I’ve handed over to him two older guns, a Topper 410 shotgun and a J Stevens, model 1915, .22 long rifle for reconditioning. He has had the shotgun since the beginning of January 2022. Told me in January he could blue it, “once he had enough guns to blue”. In March he said I didn’t get in into him in time for the last blueing batch. ???? So I turned in the Stevens .22 for reconditioning in March and he tells me he has enough to do another bluing batch, and gave me a two week time frame to have it done. Last time we spoke, April, he wasn’t sure when he would have either one of my firearms finished but stated the blueing was complete. Isn’t that one of the final steps before reassembly? It is now May 19th, and I have yet to hear anything about either one of the firearms. It’s going on 5 months for the Topper 410 shotgun. I would love to give Bruce (Old Trooper Gunsmith) a great review and rating, and would/will change this one, but I cannot until I get my guns returned to me. At this point I feel like I’m getting pushed aside and given excuses for not finishing my two firearms. This might’ve all been avoided with better communication and updates on the progress of both firearms. The completion of the Topper. (5 months). I hate posting anything negative about a gunsmith I’ve heard only praise’s about. I will gladly change this post when, or if, I get my guns returned to me. I will also be, eventually, contacting the American Gun Association, the NRA and the American Custom Gunmakers Guild to post and report, after enough time has gone by. I sincerely hope I can change this post to a positive one.
