I had the most wonderful experience today in regards to getting a correction made to my birth certificate. I'd picked it up at the county and it was 11pm when I noticed my place of birth was incorrect. JC answered my phone call the next morning. She recommended for those needing a certified birth certificate for a passport, or any reason, they should request a 'passport ready' one. That way it gets double-checked against the original data, and any data entry errors that occurred when these were keyed into the computer database are caught and corrected. With me dropping off the incorrect ones, she expedited reprint and delivery to meet my needs. It's great to know Vital Records has such competent, pleasant employees. Much thanks!

They have their office closed due to covid then charges you a convenience fee for doing it online... they wont let me do it in person so why am I being charged more for them making me do it this way?

I needed to get a document and I called to ask if they could help me get it. The lady said that I could go to the social security administration in south Jordan. I asked her if I needed to set up and appointment where she told me that I did not and I could just walk in. I went and they said I needed an appointment and that that’s the way they have been doing it for about a year. Don’t put people who don’t know how to do their job on the phones, all you’re doing is misinforming people and wasting their time.

This office only has Divorce Certificates. You would need to contact the district court that you filed your divorce in for the divorce decree.

Dear Vital Records Department, I have an elderly friend who was born in Salt Lake City in 1937. She does not use the internet. May she send you a request through the snail mail? Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Alison Anson

Yes, they will need to submit a check or money order for the fees (currently $22), their ID and letter that states the type of certificate, the birth date, certificate holder's name, parent's names. The letter needs to be signed and include their contact information.
