Worst place!! my mother was there for 3 weeks and all the time the nurses didn't know anything a alot miss communication they always blaming at the system supposedly no internet for 3 weeks the hospital sent paper work to them and they never received it I always had to give them my copy from the hospital used to give me. So much miss communication the Therapist used to make my mother do certain exercises she wasn't allow because of her surgery. Their excuses was they didn't received the paperwork work from the hospital even tho I gave it to them personally. Like the doctor from the hospital told me they just don't care they only care take money out of the insurance. She got discharged from there and the insurance said they weren't supposed to do that because she is cover for 100 days. So much complaint I did they just want to get rid of her. And social worker didn't even send the paperwork to the insurance that's their excuse the system is down that's why nobody knows anything NEVER AGAIN!!

I can only say that staying here caused extensive weight loss due to the terrible food and probably hastened my mother's death. She was quite slim when she entered this facility for skilled care, but emaciated and far far weaker when she left. When people leave reviews about how bad the food is here, believe them. Nothing else can make up for what not eating did to her here. Beware! She was sent here by a hospital social worker, who probably had no idea what this would do to her. I personally was out of town and did not realize the extent of the damage until she was (inappropriately) discharged and could no longer stand or transfer herself. It was a travesty for her to have gone here.

My aunt needed to go into rehab. I live in Pennsylvania, south of Philadelphia and another niece lives outside of Baltimore. Not knowing any of the rehabs in the Carteret area, we relied on the recommendation of the social worker and a neighbor and chose the Venetian. Big mistake!! I would never recommend this to any living soul! We traveled to visit my aunt several times in the three weeks she was there and spoke with the head nurse, who was cordial but never left her desk at the end of the floor. I visited on the second Wednesday that my aunt was there as a patient. My aunt filled me in on things that need to be handled at home and where to find bills that had to be paid, etc. I spent the weekend handling her financial and insurance affairs and returned on Tuesday evening to find my aunt slumped over in a wheelchair, hair matted and I uncombed, wearing filthy clothing and mumbling incoherently. The Gatorade that I had opened the Wednesday before was still there, untouched, so were the newspapers from the week before, and the closet had her filthy clothes hanging in hangers, unwashed. My aunt was mumbling that they never come and she needed to use the bathroom, which my cousin and I handled. I then announced that we wanted someone who had my aunt on their caseload to come assess the situation and answer questions. Only then did the head nurse, Joyce, move from her desk and cell phone to come down to the room. I told Joyce that my aunt was malnourished and had been completely neglected and how could this be allowed to happen? She had declined exponentially since the last week. Joyce proceeded to tell me “what do you expect? Your aunt has dementia and is not eating. And you girls don’t come visit her enough.” My aunt was coherent the week before, she just couldn’t hear properly without her hearing aids. I asked Joyce if she had ever bothered to have a conversation with my aunt, as she was coherent the week before, but extremely malnourished now. As if this could explain why it was ok to neglect her and not serve her food she could eat! And they have the audacity to bill me for two days! Not on your life will this bill be paid!!
