How the island used to look in the 1800s

Kayaking out and exploring a deserted island is such a cool opportunity. I really recommend it, it will make your trip feel so much more special. Bring some snorkels or goggles too! I hope they fix the viewing tower

Beautiful place for snorkeling and kayaking too. The dock is run down and you can't get on it. But it's a very nice place to go kayaking and exploring.

A brief kayak trip to reach this slice of history! The island holds much of its history. I was thankful for the plaques describing the details of each location and the ruins on the island. We were thankful we wore good shoes. We also did some snorkeling on the far side of the island which was fantastic....found some HUGE live conchs!

Monroe county is constantly opening and closing parking area's. Upgrading is one reason. As a 30 year resident, parking fines is another
We parked at the island Bridge right before Robbie's. Around mile 75
