Questions & Answers

What was happening in Gage County in the early 1880s to encourage people to settle there? And did anything happen in the late 1890s to cause them to leave?

Very disappointed what I saw at the Filley Barn. Is it harvest days or is it a Boy Scout jamboree?

Hi, Steve - I am the Museum Administrator of the Gage County Historical Society & Museum, answering on behalf of the organization, which manages the Filley Stone Barn site. We're sorry that you were disappointed in the experience you had at this year's Harvest Festival. Unfortunately, this event is weather dependent, and many of the planned outdoor agricultural demonstrations were hindered by the extremely wet weather we had this week. There were Boy Scouts on site during the Harvest Festival. This year, the Filley Barn was honored to be chosen as the location for the area's District Camporee. We think it is exciting that our area youth have the opportunity to experience and learn about Gage County history.
