The Glamourous One

To many homeless people use this as home. Taking showers in the restrooms and theirs no exhaust fan to get rid of the horrible filthy stinking odors! It's a horrible place to visit.

The Carbondale Public Library is the BEST! It's truly a community space. Fantastic and friendly staff, programming for all ages. A perfect place to co-work, meet your neighbors, and access shared resources. (Not to mention the gorgeous interior architecture) Thank you Library staff!

Carbondale Public Library is one of my favorite public libraries in Southern Illinois. I say that because it's the only library that's opened seven days a week, they offer a lot of resources for the patrons and people who reside in Carbondale, and they always have activities and events for children. I also enjoy being a fellow patron myself and being able to have access to all the upcoming events and activities that they have. 👍🏾

Do you accept donations? I currently have around 500 books of all varieties that I would like to donate. Thank you.

Sarah Twitty, please bring donations to the circulation desk. We're open 9am-8pm M-Th; 9am-6pm F-Sat.; 1pm-6pm Sun. We have a book drop outside for book returns, but there is not enough space in there for book donations as well. Thanks!

What's the charge for a lost card?

Carbondale Public Library | Oct 1, 2019

Come in with your photo ID. It's $2 to replace your card. However, if you're close to your annual renewal date, we can just give you a card instead of adding a $2 fine forgiveness credit to your account. I hope that makes sense!

I have just gotten a Library Card. When I get on line I am asked for my user name and password. I understand that the user name is the bar code number on the library card. How do I create a password?

Hi Elizabeth, your password is the 4 digit number you were asked to create when you signed up for a card. If you don't remember it we can change it for you the next time you come into the library.

Do you have any of the Polk's City Directories online? I am interested in directories from the 1950's.

No, I'm sorry. That's not something we subscribe to.
