Union Co Public Works turned my water off WITHOUT NOTICE. I filled out an application for new service online and called their office to make sure that they had all the information necessary because I did not want my water cut off in the meantime. They assured me that my water would NOT be cut off while the application was being "processed". Nevertheless, one week later, on Friday night I went to the house where I was moving only to find the water had been cut off. The state of NC requires that customers be notified 10 days in advance before cutting off water and again within 24 hours of the shut-off, using multiple forms of communication. I knew I had NOT received a phone call from Union Co. When I returned home I ran a search for Union Co. on my email and saw that there was an email saying that they were processing my application and after that a second email saying I needed to pay $150.00, but nothing about disconnecting my water. I paid immediately online at 1 am, as I would have the week before, when I called and was told my application was complete. I have never lived in a city that required anything more than a phone call to start water service. Union Co requires an application with a photo of your drivers license AND a copy of the Deed of Ownership at the location where you will be living. This is a complicated process when done online because their application designates the location where the documents must be located in order to import them (not email, which is easy). I went to all this trouble to submit information, followed by a call to make certain that all was received, so that the application was complete BECAUSE I did NOT want my water to be turned off. It stands to reason that after being told the application was complete and then discovering that it was not, that they then would call me and tell me that it was in fact, not complete and direct me to submit the $150.00 at that time. (This is not a huge office serving a metropolis, with hundreds of employees. I am guessing it is 5 people in close communication.) Since issues cannot be resolved by telephone I will have to drive to their office in Monroe because I still do not know if and when my water will be turned back on, nor have they given me an account number so that I could check for myself (I will update this review if the office has more than 5 people.) The title Union County Public Works defies all logic. I have read the reviews here and this office is clearly Not Serving The Public.

On Friday I received a phone message from county water to boil water until further notice and that test results would be back within 24 to 48 hours. It is beyond that time and no notice provided. Called and the answering service said I would receive a call back on Monday. Very upset and disappointed. Lewis Fisher

Union County Water has the MOST AROOGANT, DISRESPECTFUL PERSONNEL that has ever been assembled in one department EVER!!! Never dealt with a municipality that was so nasty!
