Each police department has their own traffic enforcement unit. Where do you live? If you live in a city within Westchester county with their own civil service you can take those tests individually the cities are Yonkers, Mount Vernon, New Rochelle, White Plains, and Rye. If you live in a town or village you can take the Westchester county test. Once you pass you will then be put on a list depending on your score and whether you are a resident or not of that city, town, or village. Then it's a waiting game for the hiring process. Takes a total of about 2 years from test to hiring process to starting and finishing the academy

You need to take the county police exam (or one of the 4 cities) then if you get called you must take a physical agility test (push ups situps and mile and half run) then drug test, psychological exam, and background check...then you'll be sent to the academy
