Update for the professional response I received at the end: Do not recommend. Will not use again. Overpriced and unprepared. Was charged $169.99 to be offered an $8k replacement on a fireplace (I asked for the most basic and comparable to the one we have now- which this unit was not. Had remote controls. Fancy grates. Temperature controls. Etc etc etc.) or a $700 dollar repair with parts they didn’t have even though we specified when setting up the appointment we had a propane unit. Was told all prices are installed prices when I asked for a breakdown of parts and labor except when quoted on a new fireplace- that was of course $2,500 extra for installation on top of the “price”. Every other quote on the $700 dollar repair was mid $400s. When we asked him to leave and we said were done, the tech still went back in and took another 15-20 minutes to measure and document in case we changed our minds. No thanks. Save yourself money and look for someone else. You are paying for big fancy advertisement trucks. UPDATE: 1- If you have a supply chain issue, that should be communicated when setting up an appointment. Not on the receipt once someone leaves. You also have the natural gas parts, just not the propane. As your tech mentioned when he arrived "oh I thought you have natural gas out here." 2- We will be using one of the other quotes. However, since we contacted you first and were already scheduled to have you come out, we gave you the benefit of the doubt to come in at a meaningfully close level in terms of cost. Which you failed. 3- Funny, I just bought a brand new Jeep Wrangler with manual windows and locks not too long ago. Sometimes people just want the basics. I can find a model very similar to the existing one without all the bells and whistles listed online (and not marked up by you) at about half the cost. Which again, we will be pursuing. For comparison of anyone reading this, I was able to replace my furnace (installed in 1 day not weeks) at a cost of several thousand less than the gas fireplace replacement I was shown. That is ridiculous. More is not always better. Honesty, communication, and providing the services customers want at fair prices is always BETTER.

I was very displeased with Flame Tech. The office staff did a great job with communicating with me about the tech coming to look at the job. He came out and looked it over and told me he would get me a quote the next week for the job. Approximately 2 weeks later I call the office and they said they would remind him. I called yet again and they said they would remind him again. And now we are over 8 weeks and still I haven’t heard a word. If this is the type of business they run, I guess I wouldn’t want them to do the work. Thanks but no thanks. Don’t waste your time. What has happened to taking a person at their word.
