Jackson County Animal Shelter

Found 2 stray puppies in middle of the road and googled the closest animal shelter or rescue. Jackson county came up. We were driving to Atlanta from Virginia and detoured 10 miles to take the puppies to be cared for. When we arrived, the shelter was closed for renovation. NOWHERE on the web page does it say it's closed. A couple of animal control officers came out as we were looking to see if anyone was around. They told us that they couldn't help us because the puppies were not from Jackson county and we should put the puppies back where we picked them up. REALLY? We are traveling through the state and have no idea which county is which. Needless to say, we continued on to Barrow county where they were wonderful and extremely helpful. They had genuine empathy for the puppies and said they would be adopted quickly. Glad they didn't become roadkill in a foreign county.

The absolute worst place for any animal to end up at!!! They kill most of the animals they trap! We saved a pregnant dog they were going to put to sleep the next day!Then threatened to have us arrested for not getting her spade while she was pregnant!!!, Now there black mailing us to pay them 120dollars or there going to have us locked up for abandonment lol the dog ran off 2 weeks ago during are move,weve asked our neighbors to look out for her and let us know if they saw her.THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN IMMEDIATELY!! There all thieves and con artists using poor defenseless animals for bait!!!!!
