I just visited looking for ski boots and a fitting. Waited for over 30 minutes not one time did anyone ever greet me or let me know how long the wait would be. I sat down in the boot fitting area hoping someone would wait on me but NO ! After 30 minutes with not even a welcome I left, even the greeter at the front door was too busy texting to say goodbye.

Pierce Skate and Ski is always my go to skating shop! Ted in the skate department is very knowledgeable and passionate about skating. Knowing that when I go in or bring my kids to get skates they will always be the perfect fit is amazing.

Got my first pair of skates here (fall 2019), not knowing anything about properly fitting skates. After a few months, I'd progressed to Basic 4, but was having foot problems. I did some research and realized that my skates were too big. I went in (spring 2021) to get fitted for higher level boots. Ted Petroskey (manager) tried to upsell me from my $150 beginner Jacksons to a pair of $1,500 custom made Auras - an obscene jump in booting and price for someone at my level. Ted trash-talked every boot brand in existence. He claimed SP-Teri were of poor quality, Riedells were not sturdy, and that Jacksons and Risports were "too hard to get". I was given the option to pay $1,500 for Auras or nothing. I left the shop empty-handed. I went to another shop where I was fitted for Edeas (summer 2021). I was able to progress in these boots for awhile, but could not get used to the wobbly fit of them. Against my better judgement, I gave Pierce another try. I booked a fitting with Jessica. She sized me in a Jackson size 11 (a full size smaller than they sold me before!) or a Risport 295C, but refused to order either boot. She said Jacksons were out of stock and Risports were too narrow, and instead offered to fit me for Auras. Disgusted, I left the shop. I started ordering boots online and ended up in a Risport 300C that fit almost perfectly, however I needed to have blades mounted on them. Because Pierce is the only shop in my area that sells Risports, I reluctantly called them up to book an appointment to have blades mounted. Ted answered the phone. I asked if I could make an appointment to have blades mounted on a pair of boots that I'd purchased online. I did not give my name. He flat out told me, "no". No explanation at all. Not only did this shop put me in ill-fitting boots, but on multiple occasions they refused to sell me boots that were an appropriate fit and level for my needs. Worse still is Ted's poor attitude and dishonesty. Just hours after I posted this, several suspicious 5-star reviews popped up. Coincidence? I think not... I can't stress enough - take your business elsewhere. Update: I have since worked with Patty at General Sports in Edina to get my blades mounted on my Risports (that fit wonderfully) and she was a pleasure to work with.

Pierce is awesome! They corrected the injuries from a pair of skates that I had from a different store. They, then, fitted me into a pair of proper fitting boots. I have a very wide toe box with narrow heels, so they found a skate that fits that with lots of success. They have continued to put me in skates that will fit my changing feet and they are extremely helpful in picking the correct boots and blades. Thank you Pierce!!

We are faced with the same staffing issues as virtually all businesses and as such appointments are highly recommended for ski boot & ice skate fittings and equipment assessment; and we will do our best to accommodate "walk-in" customers . Appointments are not required for clothing shopping or service drop-off or pick-up.
Since reopening last May for in-store shopping we have been masked and have required masks. We have been operating at 50% store capacity with appointments required for ski boot/skate fitting & equipment assessment; appointments not required for clothing shopping or service drop-off or pick up as long as physical distancing is observed. All staff self screens and checks their temperature when they clock in. Thankfully our entire staff has remained Covid-Free :)
Pierce Skate and Ski does offer a “Trade In” program for both new and used skates purchased through the shop up to two years out from purchase date. Pierce Skate and Ski does not have a consignment option or do they buy skates outright.
